No air conditioning. Small rooms

Great location and roof top seating area.

Small, uncomfortable bed, dirty place generally. The bathrooms and kitchen was appalling. Rooms tiny and very hot. The mosquitoe nets are so dirty. The shower drains are blocked. The fan doesn’t work. WiFi only works on roof top.

At least put a TV

Terrace upstairs is nice. Breakfast is ok. Area is very beautiful, it's convenient to get to Shela beach from here and it's a beautiful beach. In general, Shela as a place is a gem. This guest house isn't but it's alright.

There's no swimming pool, I don't know why they mention it in the listing. Also, there's no AC and it's just so hot to sleep, especially on the second floor, there's no air circulation between the buildings. On the upper floors (like 3rd and 4th) it's better cause some wind can reach there. Also, the bathroom door broke but the host said it's ok if I continue using it without the door. I was quite shocked with this answer (the bathroom is connected to public space).

I really liked the proximity to the beach (I'd highly recommend waking up early to watch the Sunrise at the beach and for a morning dip in the ocean. We also got to see the fishermen coming back with their catch. It was quite fascinating) I loved the rooftop terrace. It has a great view and it was such a treat to have breakfast there. Loved the location's safety even at night. The accomodation is located in such a charming neighborhood, we loved taking walks around. The architecture...the people...it was all so lovely. Loved the breakfast so much. Quite filling and delicious. Loved the welcome refreshments as well. The establishment has great WiFi so would be ideal for working remotely. I really liked that the fans work great in the house which makes it comfortable even when it's really hot.

The bathroom was not cleaned diligently. Walls and floors not well scrubbed. Toilet seat wet etc. The lighting in the bathroom ( even with a bulb on ) is terrible which makes it feel even more dingy. The house doesn't feel homely. Basic to no decorations throughout the house which has so much potential to look and carry the spirit of Lamu

The facilities need upgrading. Everything is very rusty, even the inside part of the fridge. I believe for a business accomodation, at least the fridge could do better. I don’t think is healthy to keep food in metal rust. There were also what seemed like “ants” that kept appearing on Top of the bed.

Calidad precio, es lo mejor en Shela. El desayuno personalizado en la azotea.. un lujo.

This is budget accommodation for Shela, Lamu. But it's perfectly adequate, the bathrooms are shabby though. And the double room is really small and got hot. They provide a decent breakfast, and one of the family members offers home-made Swahili food, home-cooked by his wife, so you can order that in advance for a traditional dinner. The staff are easy-going and friendly, and also offer guided walks through Shela town or up to the sandunes for the best sunset point, This is useful if you are a first-time visitor to Lamu. Everywhere is walking distance in Shela, but this place doesn't have any water views as it's budget-minded, but if you wish to save on accommodation, this is a good option to stay. As with most Lamu houses there are common areas for sitting out, this is useful if you are remote working as I was.

The bathrooms could use a total makeover.
