Hideout at the Rim

The location

It was freezing when we checked in our room downstairs at 8pm after a long day driving. We asked our host how to get the temperature up but she didn't answer. We had to look for some kind of heating ourselves. We discovered that there was a central heating upstairs set to air conditioning (68° F) even if it was very cold outside through the night. Moreover, upstairs was way warmer than downstairs as other people had said in their reviews. We turned the temperature a few degrees up, trying not to catch a cold. The following morning, we left early to get to the parks. We passed by the owner who didn't even say goodmorning or inquired on how we slept with that issue. She was just interested in her breakfast. We finally got an answer later this morning saying that she had turned the temperature up for us to sleep better the second day. This was not true. When we came back on the second evening, the temperature was still set to 68 in air conditioning mode. And was is actually unbelievable is that she had locked the control with a password so that we couldn't change it !! We had to sleep with sweaters while freezing air was blowing straight to our beds from the air conditioning above our heads. For sure, it was way less than 68° in our room (again a lot colder than upstairs). After a second terrible night, the owner came to knock on our door at 10:05 saying that we had to leave. We find that check out is too early, compared to other places. Especially with only the few rooms she had to prepare, the fact that check in is not until 4pm and that cleaning is not provided during the stay... On that note, we are not sure that one of the beds had his bedsheets changed. They looked much messier than the other bed. Breakfast is only served between 7:30 and 8:30 so you won't get anything if you want to head to the parks early before the crowds or sleep a little bit longer. I would not recommend this place and will not come back.

I loved the property. They did a great job decorating and furnishing the place. The common spaces added a lot to the value of the place and gave us an opportunity to meet some wonderful folks. The breakfast was very good and a welcome treat.

The location away from town. Quiet beautiful location. The home was comfortable.
