Durham City Retreat

The room was a reasonable size and the bed was quite comfortable, even thought it was a thin duvet.

The door to the bedroom was dirty as was the bathroom door, both needed a coat of paint. There was no bedside lamp. It was cold. Worse of all was the fact that there was no curtain in the room so when the sun appeared at around 5am it was broad daylight with little chance of sleeping.

since it's a family home you shouldn't expect much attention

Unfortunately no internet as owner said there was work happening in the area they had expected it to be up and running but it wasnt, also tv? We and also one of their family members could get tv to work in our room.....therefore was a very long nite, also bathroom bin had not been emptied

The property was exactly as described which is what you want. Very friendly hosts. We went for Durham University open day and was spot on for that - hosts gave some good information. Bathroom very spacious with an excellent shower. Would stay here again. Very convenient to access from the A1 and very convenient to travel into Durham by bus (will stay here again if my son goes to Durham). Plenty of safe street parking to leave the car during the day. Good kitchen facilities: coffee and toast were excellent. Twin room with television - not easy to find in Durham. We didn't use the Wi-fi although one was provided. Ideal for 1 or 2 nights

Nothing - it was as described which is really important so was right for what we wanted.
