Casa "La 44"

Isabel welcomed us to her home where she rents out few rooms. It was a real experience of living in Merida's typical house, enjoying a breakfast prepared by our host.

While the upper floor room was very cozy and spacious, the ground floor was rather noisy since it opens directly to the street, you need to use earplugs if you are sensitive.

It wasn’t as advertised, they house was dirty, uncomfortable and badly located

The room was spacious and the bathroom was inside the room! I liked everything.

Possibility to feel how is to live in "Old Merida" Pre - arrival communication with owner. AC worked very well. Check in process was very clear.

The room and all facilities are very, very used and some dirty. The sheets are with washed blood stains, towels are like used for 10 years (see pictures attached), doors are scratched with dog nails. The owner has a dog we did not see just heared it barking. Also during the night. I am a dog lover but not this type. When we arrived owner was not at home and even after she came, she did not explain where we are allowed to go, are there some common areas, no idea. There were nice pictures of the yard. In reality everything was dirty on the arrival evening. The table, chairs... She did not expect we will be using garden. The garden is a kind of nice on one side, the rest is the mess and dirt. After I said I am shocked with the dirt, owner did not talk to me at all except good morning. The location is not very good. The area is empty, no shop or even food stalls around. Very depressive, It is ~1,5km to first "live" part of the city. The beautiful area of Merida is in 1 hour intensive speed walk. This was the worse experience in 1,5 month travel all around Mexico. I do not understand how it is possible to rent such a place.

We absolutely loved staying at Casa 44...Isabel, Mathias and Luna the dog were so welcoming. Our room was very comfortable. The house is just charming and we loved the magical garden. Breakfast was so tasty and delicious!!!!! It was a wonderful experience and Isabel gave us great advice on places to visit. The Santa Barbara cenote park was so fantastic. We really liked the location and used our walks into the centre to explore the markets by nearby. As others have mentioned taxi journeys are affordable and useful when it's too hot.
