Akilpo Home

Akilpo Home was exactly what we needed to meet all our hiking and backpacking goals. It's tough to say what aspect of Akilpo home is the best. There are physical things that are 10/10, the kitchen, beds, and cleanliness of the place. But, it is probably the concierge aspect that sets this place apart. Everybody that works there is happy to engage in a conversation regarding the hiking, trekking, culture, or food in Spanish or English. It's wonderful. They helped us out with all our hiking plans. From taxis and collectivos to trailheads, gpx coordinates for hikes, and routes/itineraries through the Huayhuash. They stored our luggage while we were backpacking the Huayhuash too. For us, one of the greatest challenges was getting enough local currency for our Huayhuash trek. We lost our credit/debit card in a bank machine and had problems getting our currency converted. The guys at Akilpo started making calls for us immediately when they learned of our problems. By the time we headed out to Huayhuash we had our card back and enough soles in our pocket to cover the ride and the local fees around the trek.

We had an amazing stay at this hostel!! The location is perfect, the room and hostel were very nice and clean. The bed was really comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights at first, the staff was super helpful and friendly. They helped us with good advice regarding the hikes. After our 8 day Huayhuash stay we slept here for another night. Our big backpacks could stay at the hostel when we were away for 8 days. Also, you can do your laundry here. Definitely reccomending this place!!! Kind regards, Koen and Kirsten

The room was big, comfortable and clean! The breakfast buffet was lovely with the pancakes and bananabread :) But the staff was the best!!!! They where all super kind and helpfull. They helped us with organising tracking tours. We had a perfect time in Huaraz

The staffs are very friendly and professional. They speak English very well. My partner was not feeling well, they checked us in early morning and help moved all of our luggage to the room. The room was very clean and roomy, the bedding was very comfortable. The hotel has very fragrant flowers and vegetable garden, a at home feel. It has a roof top with great views and I also air dried my laundry there. A true home ❤️

This is the place you want to stay when you visit Huaraz. Akilpo home is simply the best! We had the best two nights of our 3 week trip in Peru. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They helped us book a tour, find taxi’s and offered a quick laundry service. Besides there are always there for a chat or explain a bit more about Huaraz. The location is perfect, everything is within walking disstance. Also the bed is big and so nice, the room was super clean. The breakfast was very fresh and complete. Great Wi-Fi. The price-quality ratio is amazing. We would definitely come back to Akilpo home! We stayed in April 2025. We thank you guys for making our time in Huaraz to lovely!
