Friendly hosts, lovely garden environment Location was very good for us just passing through Napier

Our room next to the lounge wasn't fully soundproof. (The pool room is completely private)

My mum and I had a great stay at Ashcroft Gardens. We were a bit skeptical about staying at a BnB, but Sally and Gavin were so warm and welcoming, we felt completely at home. The room was spacious and comfortable and the brekky delicious - loads of fresh fruit, great cereals, toast with a variety of spreads, fresh juices and/or a cooked option. A bonus was chatting with the other guests, some local and others international. Sally and Gavin themselves were great to talk to and also incredibly generous. We came away with a bag avocados from their tree. Yum! The home is set amidst lovely gardens and is a short drive or an easy 30-minute walk to Taradale village. It’s handily placed to local vineyards, including the Mission and Church Road - great for those outdoor summer concerts. Location-wise it’s hard to beat if you want to explore the rest of Hawkes Bay, with Napier, Hastings and Havelock North all within easy reach. We'll most certainly be back! Thanks Sally and Gavin!

What isn’t there to like? The hosts are outstanding, we felt like one of their family. The room was very comfortable and had every convenience known to man and womankind. It was very humid so they put a fan in our room which allows us great comfort in the 24 degree overnight temperature. The bed was lush and we both awoke refreshed. The gardens are a tropical paradise, and Gavin gave us some avocados from their tree to take home. The breakfast was outstanding. A true Bed and Breakfast where Sally made me anything I wanted (I recommend her scrambled eggs!). Gavin have us a lift to the concert was greatly showed us the shortcut home (it’s only a half hour walk away from Mission Estate and Church Road wineries). At 11pm at night as we were walking home, Gavin called me on my cellphone because it had started raining and he collected us from our sheltered spot. What a lovely couple, we will definitely be returning and sharing their contact details with our friends.

Sally and Gavin are the sweetest hosts you could wish for. Very welcoming, we felt comfortable from the first moment. We had the pool room which has a nice view on the pool and is just in the middle of their beautiful garden. The breakfast is amazing from our point of view. It just offers a lot of good local and self-made things. We felt like at home and would definitely come back again. Thank you, Sally and Gavin!

Sally & Gavin went out of their way to make our stay so special, they are lovely people and were ever so welcoming and helpful. Breakfasts were a dream and the poached eggs to die for. If it wasn't 12,000 miles from home I'd be back next week too!

Great hosts Gavin and Sally and Sally is the best poached egg maker and her home made raspberry/boysenberry jam was deeelish! Beds were amazing and mattress perfect for my back with crisp clean quality sheets. Thanks for a great BnB stay.

Not much... I'm not use to being able to wear shoes in the house and we were allowed, may be that's why one end of our room was slightly musty but hardly noticeable. Greatful we had a bed, as it was a late booking.

We loved staying here. It is a lovely, comfortable family home and Sally and Gavin were so welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended!
