The Old Cottage

What a cosy place to stay! It is indeed an old cottage and our room looked out over the loch. The accommodations are outstanding with a well appointed bedroom and bathroom. The bed was so comfortable! There is a communal sitting room with tons of information about Scotland. The hosts are so friendly and welcoming and are very knowledgeable about Scottish history and area sights. Breakfast is served in a bright dining room overlooking the water with bird feeders attracting local birds to the garden outside. Breakfast choices were extensive and made to order. You are out in the countryside, so I recommend you have a car and the cottage does have free parking. This is the perfect way point in your travels through Scotland.

The ocean view room was spectacular. The garden view room was comfortable and met our needs. We traveled with our adult son so we occupied both rooms.

I thought it was closer to Oban than it was. As it turned out, the inn’s location was so spectacular that it made us forget about returning to Oban.

Fantastic breakfast! Set us up for the whole day. Beautiful view from the breakfast room overlooking the loch. Darren and Karen are brilliant hosts, attentive and informative such a nice couple. Made us feel very welcome.

Hosts Darren and Karen were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. They are very attentive to all guests. One standout thing they did was introduce everyone to each other at breakfast, not something I have seen at other guest houses, this meant that breakfast was really nice communal occasion where you didn't have to sit in an awkward silence. the location and facilities are first rate. Even down to including menu's for the surrounding pubs and restaurants, such a good idea. We WILL be staying there again in the future.

Loved everything. Exceeded expectations! Do not drive by if in the Oban area. Nicest place and best value on our 30 day trip. Be sure to book to eat dinner next door. Hosts will email instructions.

Lovely welcome and fantastic breakfast watching wildlife, rabbits, red squirrel, vole, birds from our dining room window. Lovely comfortable lounge area 2 minute walk to Loch Melfort Hotel where we had a lovely dinner.

It was absolutely a lovely stay. I love where it is located -it is just 3/5 minutes walk to the rocky beach. The hosts, Darren and Karen were so welcoming and wonderful. They messaged us ahead of time to direct us to their place, suggested some dinner options near the place and made sure we book them ahead. Altogether i had an amazing stay at their property and would love to visit again. xx
