Trevelyan Hotel

The breakfast was passable. Properly cooked but no menu to choose from. My friend asked for another cup of tea and was told in no uncertain way 'we serve breakfast from 8:30 to 9am. We've finished serving now'. So, half an hour and your out! (We were eventually given another pot but very reluctantly and not with good grace)

The lack of respect. Not hospitable. We arrived on the late ferry and had advised the hotel in advance we would be arriving at around 11pm. When we arrived the keys with our name on were left on the reception desk. As no one was there, we reasonably assumed we were to take the keys. We did so & went to our rooms. The proprietor knocked on the door 10 minutes later and admonished us saying they had 'protocols' and we should have rung the bell as she was in the back waiting for us! Really? Not being mind readers we assumed we had done the right thing as our names were with the keys on the desk. One doesn't expect to be told off when we're were paying guests!!! A Simple explanation would have been more appropriate. Had we not paid before we arrived we would have left the hotel & found another one. My room, whilst clean was awful. A double bed in a room that should only have had a single bed in it; when I opened the door into the room it hit the bed. Very dark room, poor lighting, no shampoo, shower gel, tissues or any of the little things one might expect, even in a budget hotel.

Very friendly helpful staff. Breakfast good quality ingredients. Great.care and attention given to customers requests.

Paid.for basic facilities bit really just too basic toilet door unable to close because in such a small space. Upgraded be space around bed an issue and toilet again not enough leg room.

Located on the beach promenade, a fifteen minutes walk to the city center. Parking can be a challenge, for my motorcycle it wasn't a problem. Room for all my stuff a bit too small, hallways narrow.
