Greyton Lodge

The staff were excellent and very helpful during our stay. The place was overall very charming.

The room was generally fine, but the bathroom layout was a serious issue for me. The actual toilet (not just the shower or basin) was separated from the sleeping area only by a sheer, see-through curtain. While I understand that some hotels go for open or modern designs, having no visual privacy for the toilet is extremely uncomfortable and not something I would expect or enjoy, especially in a room with 2 separate beds. This wasn’t mentioned in the room description, nor was it pictured in the photos of the room when booking, and it’s the kind of detail that would have influenced my booking decision. Guests should be made aware of this in advance, as it will be a deal-breaker for many people.

The garden and the view of the mountains is beautiful and it felt inviting

I felt there could have been a few upgrades done such as the pool and our rooms needed a little bit of TLC. A bar fridge would have been nice. I felt like pool area could be so much nicer and it really needs a revamp. But overall we had a comfortable stay. The breakfast was lovely although some more options in the buffet would have been nice.

De lodge ligt op 5 minuten lopen van de drukste straten met winkels en restaurants. Goed bed en lekker ontbijt.

The hotel itself is beautiful, the owner and staff were amazing and breakfast was great too. The location was also very convenient, quick walk to “town” and around the corner of the waterfall and hikes. Plus the honesty bar is well equipped with wines and cool drinks. We really enjoyed our stay in greyton.

The bed in our room seemed like it was about to crack. Every move was noisy and sleeping became a quite unpleasant experience. We had booked the hotel specifically because of the pool. Unfortunately the pool was dirty, also when it seemed like it was being cleaned the chemicals or whatever was in there would make the skin itch. So we didn’t use the pool as much as we had planned to, which wasnt ideal with the heat. Further, only 4 sun loungers was not enough for all the guests. It would have also been nice to have a mini fridge to store fruits and water. As there is no lunch or dinner offered at the hotel.

I had a confirmed booking as well as a booking for dinner but when we arrived we were told they thought we had cancelled despite a whole lot of confirmation what's apps I had received from the manager which included a booking for dinner. We were then referred to another establishment which was cheaper but very good and were not refunded the difference in cost
