Secluded and quiet with amazing views. Great hot shower. Lovely continental breakfast included.

Breakfast was wonderful with a few little extra supplies.

We were worried about the access once we'd booked but the owners more than compensated for it :-)

Ken and Jenny went out of their way to make my stay easy and enjoyable and there was plenty of food!

I would have preferred a harbour view but the native bush was beautiful ❤️

A stunning location, off the beaten track in the middle of beautiful bush surrounded by native birdsong. For an off grid hut in the middle of the bush, the accommodation exceeded expectations. Cosy, comfortable and everything you need. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and extra blankets, which were appreciated on the frosty, winter evenings. The breakfast food provided was generous and we had enough left over to use for a lunch too. The shower was brilliant and the shampoo, conditioner and body wash was unexpected - and lovely. We loved the 'adventure' of walking in from the car park, it made it feel more like a real 'getaway'. We did take up the kind offer of a ride out on departure, which was appreciated. A great place to unwind, relax and enjoy the views complete with kererū and pīwakawaka flitting by. Thank you to our hosts for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back!

We had a great time. The hut was comfortable and the heating worked well. The bathroom and toilet facilities were excellent. The composting toilet was clean and didn't smell at all. Cooking on the gas camping stove worked out fine.

There were some minor glitches with the battery that powered the electricity, but the owners rapidly corrected this by hooking up a gas generator. When the battery glitches are ironed out, the place will be perfect. I admire the owners for doing the right thing and having the goal of the hut being powered solely by solar energy. They seem well on the way to achieving this goal.
