Great place, clean and all equipment needed

If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, with privacy, seclusion and beautiful views, then Glenwood is the place to be! Such a relaxing setting to sit back and listen to the birds (we loved watching the abundant Kereru). We stayed in the kanuka hut. It was simple but very well equipped and had everything you could need for a lovely stay 😊 We used the BBQ and gas cooker a few nights and went into town another night for dinner. A wonderful continental breakfast is all set for you, which was a lovely touch! The bed was comfortable and the shower pressure was great. There's lots of cute wee touches to the place (such as books, board games, hot water bottles etc) which really made the place feel very thought-out and homely. We really enjoyed our 3 night stay, and would definitely stay again! Such a restful break away 😊

Nothing we didn't like, just things worth noting! The huts are solar powered, so you do have to be mindful of conserving power (not having multiple things going at once etc). The toilet is also an eco toilet (essentially a fancy long drop) but don't worry, as it doesn't smell! These things just added to the off-the-grid type experience, so not cons in our opinion. It's also worth noting the road to the hut is steep and narrow, and a decent car or 4wd is recommended!

It’s as described: fully self-contained; amazingly quiet and beautiful setting; comfortable and clean. Despite being ‘off-the- grid’, the bathroom was brilliant and I never had a problem with cell phone signal etc. Furnishings and fittings - including a robe that actually fit me - were pretty luxurious. The owner, Ken, went above and beyond to support my visit - including dropping me down to town one day. Town is a walkable 40-50mins - even at my plodding pace - but it’s up a very steep hill on the way back. It would be a walker’s paradise - if I was a walker - tracks off everywhere! Stars have to be seen to be believed.

I didn’t research too hard about it so was a bit surprised at how ‘bush’ it was. This is less of a dislike, and more of a not-for-me-in-hindsight thing.

excellent self-contained accommodation with a sweeping panoramic view set in regenerating bush and surrounded by birdsong. beautiful location with walks through indigenous forest both within and adjacent to the property. a great place to be based both to relax and unwind; and to take part in the many great activities available in the area. very tranquil and restful. Helps to be somewhat off grid.

I personally found the room a bit cold at nights but chose not to use the heater. so probably my own fault. the road access to the property is interesting and at first challenging. Care and common sense required.

Beautiful view, great continental breakfast with fruit and some lovely snacks. Over and above what other places usually provide.
