"Honest review. Will not book here again."

3.0

Good location near promenade.

. We paid £1995 for 14 nights. Actually stayed 8 nights as managed to get ferry changed . Didn’t expect a refund. Fair enough. TT week. Parking not great. Room quite small. One chair provided that was horribly stained on seat pad. One saggy old pillow each, not comfortable to use at your back on wood headboard, as had to sit on bed, nowhere else to sit. Bedding thin polyester. very worn. Mattress could do with being replaced. No bedside light, or plug sockets only 2 bright spot lights over head. Socket at other side of room. We bought an extension lead. 2 towels provided again, very thin and worn out. One had a dark stain on it! Only replaced once in the week. Kettle provided, coffee, tea, sugar. Found one of the mugs had a stain in it. Not washed properly. Only milk used was replenished once in the time we were there. Found underwear and a sock under the bed from a previous guest, under bed had a lot of dust/grim obvious cleaned in a while. Bed quite high so no reason was not cleaned. All wood flooring. Very noisy from people moving about above you. Shower… head was hovered in black scum/gunk: legionella hazard, quite disgusting! Black scum on shower walls also, would be very easily cleaned off but not done!! States”Daily House Keeping”! Did not happen! No hairdryer provided. “Free toiletries “ is actually 2 small discs of hand soap. Light pull for mirror has a small brown substance on it 😳, dread to think what it was…. Can’t wash face in sink as shelf above is in the way. Toilet rolls not replenished when finished, had to get from communal loo. WIFI absolutely terrible. Other guests said same. Very rarely worked at all… Continental breakfast.. not allowed to help ourselves. Sometimes given all the foods/drinks on offer, sometimes not. Felt awkward asking if something was missing from the food. You may wonder why we didn’t go elsewhere…. During TT week the island is full and prices extortionate. So we made the best of it.

"Great visit to the isle of Man and the accomodation definitely exceeded my expectations"

9.0

I was very impressed with the SeaBreeze. We had NO idea what I had really booked as it was for the Isle of Man TT which is notoriously a tough time to find accomodation on the Island. The breakfast was basic but excellent - toast, milk, juice, cereal, Porridge, coffee etc. The lady who manages the place "Leslie" is a gem and took care of us VERY well, even packed us a lunch a couple of times which was an uncalled for special treat. The place was immaculate, the ensuite bathroom was GREAT and remember - this is an old English/Manx style B&B with smallish (by N. American) standards and a walk up - NO elevator. The bathroom had a shower, no tub but it was modern and again - immaculate. The bed was a std double and a bit saggy if two people want to sleep in it and not roll together. It was comfortable for me and my son who shared the room had brought a bed roll and sleeping bag as we knew in advance there was a single bed. And bless her heart Leslie provided a extra duvet for him to put on his airmattress to make it quite comfortable. If I'm back on the island I certainly would stay there again. Even the location just off the promenade in Douglas was great. There was a bloody excellent Indian Restaurant (flavours) less than two blocks away and another excellent restaurant two blocks the other way the HO both just a block up from the "Prom" in Douglas

"Disappointing"

2.0

Great location, clean and comfortable accommodation.

It’ll be no surprise to the owner and operator of the Seabreeze Guest House, Douglas, IOM, that this assessment of my stay is not favourable. This is largely due to the fact that my prepaid booking was not recognised by the owner and operator. My ferry from Liverpool was due to arrive in Douglas at 22:15 on 4th June, 26, and so I relayed this information to the owner and was supplied with a code to a key safe box to access the entrance door and Room 4 keys. Before I left Liverpool and after the IOM Steam Packet Company had informed me that the ferry had been delayed, I updated the owner of the new arrival time estimated 00:15. However, on my arrival at about 00:50, I found the key safe box to be empty and I asked for advice from two passing Manx police officers. Although reluctant for fear of causing disturbance, I followed their advice and rang the property only to be informed that my booking was for Wednesday night and therefore there was no longer a room for me. After several further failed attempts to communicate by phone, the police hammered on the door until it was eventually answered. The operator again insisted that my booking was for Wednesday 3rd and reiterated that there was no space. The police persisted and, referring to my booking details, asserted that my booking was in fact for the 4th and asked the operator to take responsibility. I was eventually given access to Room 4 at approx. 01:30 to catch a few hours’ sleep; the room was clean and comfortable, the shower just right. Before making my way to the Grandstand to view Friday’s TT races, I chose and was served a continental breakfast which included an Activa yoghurt with a use by date 2nd June and a small citrus which was half mouldy. This was an interesting experience. Fortunately, the rest of my stay and the TT races were fantastic. Huge thanks to the police officers for their help.
