Wir wurden herzlich begrüsst von Lorene und ihren vierbeinigen Freunden. Leckeres Frühstück mit feinen Eierspeisen. Lorene, vielen Dank für die tollen Tipps & die Gastftreunfschaft. Wir haben die Ruhe genossen & dank unserem Mietauto waren wir bestens connected mit Taupo 😄.

Freundlichkeit der Gastgeberin, der wunderschöne Garten. Das Frühstück war gut.

Die Räume waren zu kalt.

The property is situated outside Taupo in a very rural setting. Our room was very comfortable and if the weather had been warmer, we could have been sitting on the veranda right outside our room! Our host was very interesting to talk to and she was keen to make us feel at home. Her breakfasts were fantastic. Apart from wonderful fresh bread she also cooked a wonderful frittata one morning and an omelette the next!

The dog was nice and the bathroom was very clean.

Host could have been a lot friendlier. I felt she was very passive aggressive. I could tell she didn't like my dog as she kept referring her as an "it" and called my sons name wrong all weekend, made it obvious she didn't like my dog wearing clothes as she muttered under her breathe "oh my God" and then took a photo and said she would send it to a family member. I was expecting the breakfast would be like as per the Google photos with eggs and such but it was simple with wheetbix, milk, burnt semi warm vocals, plain yogurt and fruit salad. I ended up buying food after with my son in the center. I was expecting her to show us around the outside of the property but she didn't. She has claimed beforehand that all animals on her property were friendly but then mentioned after her cat might corner my dog and could attack her as my dog is very small or at the beginning she would know how her dog would get on with mine as mine was too small and my dog doesn't know how to stand up for herself ???!. The bedding was the same as the photos from 4 years ago.. Very outdated and I was expecting the room would be vacuumed daily or sheets changed but they weren't. She also claimed there was something wrong with the water as a bird had died so she bought bottled water instead so we couldn't drink from the tap which made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't know if we were able to use the kitchen for cooking or the lounge for watching TV as she didn't make me feel very comfortable when I was around. The hosts other guests came on Sunday and I'm guessing they were family because as soon as they arrived she changed her tune and was so lovely to them which made me wonder why she couldn't be as nice to us??? . Another thing that bothered me was thinking there would be unlimited WIFI but we were told on arrival that we can't stream or download because it isn't unlimited that we can only do simple browsing or looking things up.

Wonderful setting in the midst of nature. Super friendly Taco (Bluey) was an icing on the cake. I had a nervous Border Collie, but it was a smooth interaction, and play time with Taco made my trip enjoyable. My Koda learned socialisation and was happy. Lorene was a lovely host. The room was spotless and cozy, and you could tell that a lot of love and care went into creating a relaxing space. It’s rare to find someone so dedicated to making others feel welcome and comfortable. I can’t recommend this place enough and will absolutely be returning. Thank you for such a memorable and heartwarming stay!

Nothing. Everything was pleasantly placed.

Lorene was incredibly hospitable, breakfast far exceeded our expectations of 'continental breakfast' - she took great care to provide us with tasty home cooked treats. Lorene also made it possible for an extra family member to be somewhat accomodated despite being very clear that there was no 'room' (literally) for her, thanks Lorene. Taco the dog was also welcoming and the rural environment was relaxing and refreshing.

What we expected and what we got in accomodation differed, actually what we got was better than we thought we were coming to. The word 'lodge' and some of the descriptors and photos made us wonder if this was going to be bigger and less 'homely'. The room was part of the family home and this was done well so that we felt we had privacy, what might have been helpful is a little bench of sorts with a kettle and rubbish bin etc as I felt (on me not the host) that coming and going into the main kitchen/living room could have been an imposition on the hostess.

Location was peaceful but off the beaten track! A good 10km from restaurants/cafe for evening meal 🤷. We found some lovely places to explore and Lorene gave us useful information about where else we could walk, visit etc. It's a long drive to the Tongariro area, but worth going, a trip out on the lake is a must as is at least one swim. Taco the dog is friendly and welcoming - drive in slowly!!
