Old Monterey Inn

A delightful weekend at the Old Monterey Inn. Our room, Stoneleigh, was beyond charming and had everything we needed. The staff were welcoming and accommodating and the breakfast outstanding. We also loved the convenient location and the interesting mix of other guests. And the gardens were lush and quaint. We would go back in a heartbeat.

The Old Montgomery Inn was a wonderful B&B for our first visit to Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. The English Tudor mansion and expansive gardens are immaculate. Wendy and her team were wonderful, even provided a picnic basket for us to use on our adventure down the coast.

The accommodation was just what we were looking for. The hospitality and welcome was exceptional. We were sorry we weren’t able to stay for breakfast as we had to leave earlier than 9am but thank you so much for the lovely goody bag (lovely muffins) that we took with us along with some freshly brewed coffee in a travel cup. Everything at The Inn has been carefully thought out to make customers feel welcome.

I’m struggling to think of what could have been better as it was at a standard expected for what we paid and as mentioned above thought had been put into a lot of things to make you feel welcomed. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble. Thank you!

I cannot say enough good things about Old Monterey Inn. We booked it for three nights for our babymoon and purchased the babymoon package. Everything exceeded our expectations. The inn was so homey and cozy. We stayed in the Ashford suite, which was more spacious than I could have imagined. It was like a two bedroom one bathroom apartment and had a ton of closet and bathroom storage space. Keep in mind the bathroom doors don't latch shut, they just sort of sit shut. Wendy was beyond accommodating of all of our needs including my gluten allergy. The evening happy hour was something we took advantage of every night and absolutely loved. There usually weren't many people there, but it was nice even when it was just us enjoying the wine and snacks together. The babymoon package was so worth it. Spoilers ahead regarding it. -The welcome snack basket was actually a beautiful, generously portioned plate of cheeses and fruits. They supplied gluten free crackers as well. -The restaurant voucher made for a wonderful and stress free night out. It was an $80 voucher so be prepared to pay for some of your meal. I'm glad I inquired about this in advance. -The sunset picnic was above and beyond. They stocked the picnic basket with everything you can think of and, again, accommodated my gluten allergy. It came with a bamboo mat and blanket to sit on as well. -Breakfast was delivered to our room every morning and they even accommodated the fact that we wanted it a bit earlier (it is typically served between 9:00-9:30). Keep in mind that it is a fixed meal each day, not a menu of choices. Everything was delicious, but my husband is a bit picky so that was tough for him. -The flowers and welcome gift were super nice touches. Overall this was absolutely the most special weekend I could have imagined for our babymoon. Thanks, Wendy, for everything!

We had a relaxing stay at the old Monterey inn. The room was clean and the bed was soft. There was a refrigerator stocked with water, soda, yogurt. There was a tea and coffee station to use anytime of the day and even a self clean car station outside. It was in a perfect location to aquarium, restaurants ,17 mile drive , National park and point lobos. Breakfast was a highlight every morning and afternoon snack/wine was welcomed after a long day out! Not many B&B do wine hour anymore so it was so nice to have it be part of our stay. Wendy made our stay truly enjoyable. She was so helpful and welcoming and made us feel comfortable our entire stay. I would not hesitate to book this B&B again!

This makes our third stay at OMI. Great location, beautiful Inn, lovely Innkeeper who always makes us feel welcome and special. If you love gardens, this one has a relaxing one that I sat in every night that we stayed. Breakfast is a vegetarian affair, always delicious. If you like to walk, the downtown area is a short distance away and it’s nice to not fuss with the car. We came in on a Tuesday and the Farmer’s Market was in full swing and offered lots of great food, vegetables etc.

The Old Monterey Inn is one of the most charming and welcoming places we have encountered. From the minute you enter this historic house through beautifully tended gardens, this place feels special. The glamorous old building is full of charm and in our room every detail had been considered: a comfortable bed, fireplace, free-standing bath, a generous supply of soft drinks and snacks for guests to enjoy and fresh flowers in the room. The attention to detail was superb, and breakfast with other lovely guests was a joy - taken around a lovely dining room table and elegantly presented. Thanks to Wendy and her team for a delightful and memorable stay.
