Villa Effort

The location was really good, just a few minutes to Kabalana beach, also a few nice and tasty restaurants nearby, but still really calm, the house did not get much noise from the streets or train, which is not that obvious in Ahangama. We were positively surprised by the rooms, everything was really clean, the bed was super comfortable and big, the room was cleaned each 3/4 nights, which was also great. The place offers free laundry services, as well as filtered water, which is a real game changer, it is eco friendly but also you don't have to buy water - just have a bottle and fill whenever you need. The breakfasts was very tasty, the portions were more than enough and we could taste also the Sri Lankan traditional dishes. There is also a fridge if you need, so you can store anything you buy outside. The host Kamal is really helpful as well as all the other people working here, he supported us with organizing the trips to Safari Yala and Ella, there is also an option to rent scooter. The wi-fi was good and reliable, we were working remotely and we did not meet any issues with the connection. AC works perfect, however it is a bit noisy. Kamal and the team helped us with anything we faced, we felt like at home and we really recommend the stay!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Villa Effort! One of the standout features is their free filtered water with RO system, which saves both money and the hassle of buying bottled water – such a thoughtful and sustainable touch. They also offer free laundry, which was a fantastic convenience during our trip. 24/7 Tea and coffee WiFi systems with power back up The kitchen is well-equipped and inviting, perfect for cooking at home, or you can even have someone cook for you – such a treat! I also had an emergency and needed to visit the hospital, and their support was incredible. They instantly advised where to go, organized a taxi, arranged the appointment, and helped us navigate through the hospital – we felt so cared for during a stressful time. As a bonus, since we were already in Galle, they arranged a short sightseeing tour through the city, which was such a thoughtful gesture. The team working here is super kind, helpful, and attentive. The villa is very clean, with good AC, and the location is super close to the city center, making it very convenient. We’re so grateful for their hospitality and can’t wait to come back. Highly recommended!

Kamal is an exceptional host—kind, always helpful, and ready to find a solution for everything. Our room was cozy, equipped with both AC and a fan, and had a lovely balcony to relax on. The breakfasts were a highlight, offering delicious and unique Sri Lankan dishes every day. We initially planned to stay for 3 days but ended up staying for 16 because we felt so comfortable and welcomed. Highly recommended!

This was one of the best and most accomodating guest houses I have stayed in months in Sri Lanka, the host Kamal was fantastic and I would highly recommend this guest house for great value and a very comfortable stay in Ahangama

Not fully equipped, lacking soap in the container or in the bathroom.
