Sky Mountain Café with seaview

Staying at Sky Mountain was the perfect mix of many things: - The sweetest and most helpful hosts ((Chanu (son), Champa (mom) and Dad). They are very open, kind, trustworthy and helpful people. They're happy to share their story and also interested in hearing your story. I never felt so at home at a B&B! They helped me with organizing a pick-up from the airport, scooter rental, information regarding reasonable tuk-tuk prices and gave me a ride to Weligama on my last day, to get some money from the bank and bid me good-bye after making sure Chanu chose a fair and good tuk-tuk driver to take me to my next B&B in Madiha - A beautiful location, located just next to Weligama, in Gurubebila. This village is a lot more beautiful and authentic than hectic and touristic Weligama. Though it's a small village, it's far from being dead - a good selection of local restaurants and an amazing hip breakfast & lunch café with a yoga Shala (Jamu) are all in walking distance. The most beautiful thing in my opinion is the surrounding though: it's surrounded by nature and monkey's, squirrels and bird's come very morning and evening. Also the terrace, where breakfast and dinner is served, has a beautiful view over the ocean, where you can observe surfers from afar. The view is unparalleled, as the B&B is located on a hill (hence the B&B's name), allowing a very far view over the beach and ocean. - A strategically good location. A 3-5 min walk, down a little, safe "jungle" foot-path to the village's center and beach. Not in hectic, busy and touristy Weligama, but just a 10 min ride with the scooter, tuk-tuk or bus. Sky Mountain is perfect for everyone that wants a place which is peaceful, inmeshed in nature, not in the hassle and buzzle, but not far of it either and run by people who care about their guest and who are happy to tell you about their culture. Depending on your preference, make sure to check whether your room category has an AC or not. Not all rooms have one, but all rooms have a fan and mosquito net.

Sky Mountain is such a great guesthouse. It is run by an incredibly lovely family who are friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean, have great mosquito nets, and nice bathrooms. Champa cooks the best curry around and there is always someone on hand to help you with anything. I had to go to the hospital and they were so supportive - it was like having a second family. Great location as well - 2 minute walk to the village and beach but nestled away in the tree tops with a great view of the surf. Cannot recommend enough.

It’s a local family run place! The hosts are reallllllyyyy the best! Super loving, champa the mum is like a real mum! She cooks for all. The son Chanu knows a lot about the region and will give you a lift anywhere. Really nice stay if you like to be away from the crowds. Definitely the best view !!! See fishermen in the morning. Have monkey visits and really the most important support a local family business. We will be back thank youuuuuuu!!!

The sea view is very nice, the owners smiling all the time, good breakfast. The accommodation was pretty cheap which nonetheless showed in the overall value.

Our room had a wall covered in mold stains and the mosquito net over the bed was probably never washed. It was covered in dust and dead insects which made me cough a lot even during the night (because our room did not have AC and we had to have the fan turned the whole night). Also, there is no warm water or (at least in our room) a closet or even a space to put your things. The pictures do not capture the reality + if you stay for the beach like us, be aware it is not sandy one, but a rocky one.

Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 6 nights and I can tell you that we were more than satisfied with our accomodation. The apartment is perfect, the view from the dining area is absolutely stunning and I will miss it a lot! They have nets where you can lay down, relax and just enjoy the views and nature. The best part is also that you are located on top of the small hill, so you get the best views, you also are only 2 minutes away from the beach and restaurants. People who run this apartments are the most kind, generous, helpful, and heartwarming hosts you will ever meet. Host Chanu helped us arrange taxi from the airport, rented us his scooter, arranged a safari to Udawalawe national park with a taxi to get us there (so we didn't need to worry about anything) he even helped us a lot with explaining the buses that we need to take to go to Ella (because that was our next destination) and he also drived us to the nearest bus station with his tuktuk. His family was really positive, always smiling and gave it their all to make us feel like home. When we were leaving it was like we were leaving our own family and if we ever come back to the southern part of Sri Lanka, we are coming back to them. I would definately recommend this acommodation 1000000%, you won't regret it believe me.

Cutest Family With a super quiet located Place surrounded by nature only. Had very good breakfast every day and could also use their scooters. Would come back again every time!
