The Embassy B&B

Es war alles super. Besonders der selbstgebaute Cider und das Bier auf der Terrasse mit herrlichen Aussicht über Queenstown und das Wasser haben uns gefallen. Das Frühstück war außergewöhnlich gut mit frisch gebackenen Muffins und herrlichem Café.

The huge picture window in our bedroom faced the lake; just beautiful! The owner provided many details such as sheet warmers and binoculars to catch the great views from the living room or porch. Breakfast was phenomenal with housemade yogurt, breads and granola as well as fruits and cheeses. And there is an inviting hot tub to enjoy under the stars.

Not a lot

The host was not helpful barely greeted us upon arrival barely talked to us. Room was tiny and bathroom was down the hall supposed to be us but the toilet door was locked in the morning so was not just for us staff were staying on same floor as guests quite unprofessional when we paid a lot of money so instead of staying the eight nights we stayed 2 and was not offered $1 compensation far better places for far less in Queenstown

Well decorated throughout and lovely plush carpeted floors. Warm, clean very well organised. I booked the larger room with en-suite bathroom, so had a beautiful view of the nearby lake and mountains. Breakfasts were a lovely continental mix of homemade muffins, sourdough, pancakes, fruits, cereal, chia &yoghurt and boiled eggs. Lovely attention to detail with the little tea/coffee station, electronic key access to the property to aid with early departures and good quality bedding. I’m only sorry I didn’t leave enough time to enjoy the hot tub after my long walk on the third day. Wonderful host and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for couples and solo travellers such as myself (attending a friends wedding). The other rooms had the option of a shared bathroom, which may not suit some people, but please see photo below, it was a very nice and well thought out shared bathroom.

It wasn’t an issue for me, because I was using taxi’s to get about, but it’s worth being aware the property is near the top of a residential area and it’s a reasonable incline to walk up and down to the main road. Once you’re up and out for the day it’s not an issue.

The hot breakfast and barista coffee that Janet provided in addition to the Continental Breakfast was delicious. The views from the property were breathtaking. The beds were so very comfy with electric blankets so cosy too. The B&B was very clean, with extra things offered for use such as toiletries. Janet was even kind enough to make my daughter a packed lunch for her day on the snow fields.

If you experience any kind of anxiety from being in a cluttered environment this is definitely not the place for you. I found our room cramped, could have done without the big chair. The bathroom was equally cluttered with hairdressing chairs and sink, leaving only a tiny standing room area to enter and exit the shower which is over the bath. The lounge room is over furnished for my liking, was hard to move between furniture, and very hard to relax in. They run a cafe in that space and a bar. From the photo's it looks like you have the use of the hot tub and sauna, but these need to be booked and charged at $100 a session, which was disappointing. The continental breakfast I would have appreciated yoghurt and a healthier selection of cereal, for the mornings we were leaving earlier. 24hr coffee station had poor quality powdered coffee and minimal milk in fridge jug.

I'm glad we picked this place to stay, because it was fantastic! Tasty brekkie every morning, and tasty coffee and chai. Janet and the girls (and Miss Kitty!) were lovely hosts, it was great chatting with them, and definitely helped to sound out our more ill-advised plans with locals. Our room was coziness itself, and the view was remarkable (pun intended). The bed was so comfy I wanted to take it home with us; I still miss it. 11/10, couldn't be happier, thanks ladies!
