I’ve stayed in many places in India and they have received good ratings from me. This place gets 1/10. Never have I stayed in a place so dirty. When I arrived to a small room with fake grass carpet that acted as reception, there was a dirty tissue just thrown on the floor. As I was talking to the owner he was pushing the dirty tissue with his foot under the sofa, thinking I couldn’t see it. Yuk! If you book online all the money is taken immediately from your account so, by the time you arrive and see how bad it is, there’s nothing you can do. Hardly anywhere else I stayed in India did this. Most settled the bill when I was leaving. I tried to talk to the owner, when leaving, but he was argumentative and started saying lies to me, and accusing me of aggressiveness 😂, so I gave up. I felt he had had the conversation many times and had his well-worn lines ready. Photos are from my ‘upgraded room’ at over 3000 R/s per night. The tissue is after I wiped the inside of the wardrobe. Staff are at the front of the place playing board games or on laptops. As another reviewer said, they don’t seem to get the cleanliness issue. Of anywhere I stayed ever in India (5 trips) this is easily the worst. Getting my popcorn ready for the lies in the response 😂 ‘Homestay’ is not an excuse for dirty facilities, lack of customer care and untrue responses to anyone who gives you feedback.

The location is really ideal as it's away from the noise in the town. The complimentary breakfast was really good . The pancakes are a must try.

Location of property ideal. Just away from the center of Mcleod so very calm. I really loved the unique nature of the building, with trees and plants growing everywhere. Also a lovely spacious balcony with view, ideal for a beer in the evenings. I upgraded to the balcony option and didn't regret it.

the food was amazing. we had all of our meals from the family. they cook all meals on that menu and they really are amazing. The staff are very kind and very helpful. the facilities are a little old but still very nice to stay. very comfortable and in walking distance to the local shopping area. The main square and the Dalia Lama's house and temple.
