Great location, ideally placed.

No coat hangers in the room, only one bedside lamp in the double room, no chair to sit on in the room

"Warm welcome and friendly staff ensured that I had everything I needed"

8.0

The location was excellent for Three Counties showground. Dogs not allowed in rooms but as small grassy area was available for them to exercise. Basic pub grub but well cooked and presented. Lovely hospitality tray in room

A traditional country pub with plenty of parking and separate accommodation block.

No negatives.

"Very basic, but basic done very well!"

8.0

just what we wanted, proper British boozer with rooms and food. Not high end, but there is NO pretence to be, honesty rules here, basic but what there is, is good. Good sized bathroom, loads of towels, super comfy bed and very, VERY clean. Free House so the landlord serves the best beers, and he keeps a good pint! The food was again, basic, mostly something with chips, but what did arrive was well cooked, hot and plentiful. I wasn't hungry so had a side salad, received a huge soup bowl, overflowing with the freshest salad I've ever been served. Husbands burger was wonderful, again best he's had.

So some wasn't good, room was very hot (it's summer) and noisy ( behind the working part of the pub ) some parts of the building looking tired, But this hard working, friendly couple know this, it's a work in progress, improvements gradually done as funds allow. And after repairs from uncaring 'guests'! High end this isn't, not a 'gastropub' but we slept like logs in that wonderful bed, had all we needed and hot plentiful pub grub. Please support our struggling pubs, especially this one!
