La Cedille - French Heritage House

Lovely atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff (Murugan especially), fabulous breakfast and the whole courtyard and garden area really made for an exceptional stay.

The hotel is located in the heart of White Town, which makes it perfect for exploring Pondicherry. The property itself is very beautiful with a charming colonial-style structure and a lovely compound. Since it is an old house, the number of rooms is limited, which gives it a more intimate and peaceful feel. Our room was quite spacious with a very high ceiling, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The breakfast was very good, and we appreciated that it was served early in the morning. The staff were very helpful, always ready to assist us whenever needed.

The bathroom was very spacious, but it had a persistent foul smell throughout our stay. Although it was cleaned regularly, the odor was quite strong especially on the first day. So we had to keep using a diffuser to manage it. This may be due to the building being an old heritage property, but it did affect our comfort. The room lighting was quite dim, making it difficult to read, especially at night. A bedside reading lamp would really improve the experience. While the room had a window with natural light, the glass could be cleaner or better maintained, as this would allow more light in and improve the overall feel of the room.

The location was excellent. And Shiva was very helpful, so were the cooks.

Since it's on the main town road it's understandable that parking cannot be provided, they should inform guests in advance if driving their own cars about parking facility
