Golden King Guest

Very cosy and welcoming place. A 15'-20' walk from town but with a great view and ideal for when you want to escape the city streets. We were offered tea with cake upon our arrival and also when we came back to pick up our bags. We even got some tea from the area as a parting gift. The owners are definitely a big plus in staying here. Their English is pretty good and they are very knowledgable about things to do in the area. They arranged a tuktuk to take us to Horton's Plain in the early morning, with breakfast to go. The room was very clean and they gave us extra warm blankets (nights can get cold). Warm showers and a cosy seating area. One of our best stays in Sri Lanka's hill country.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Owner was very nice and helpful, picked us up at the train and tried to book traintickets in advance, unfortunately none was available. Breakfast was great, lovely room with a view. Gave good recommendations for the stay, and took us on a tour of waterfalls and a local tea plantation. Wife and kids was really nice and welcoming, would definitely stay again! :)

I really liked this Inn. The owners are so nice, friendly and helpful! I was offered a free pick-up from the train station, which was wonderful as it's quite far. The hotel is about 5-10 minutes walk to the city centre. It's a really cosy place, only 3 guest rooms which open up into the communal area so you get to meet everyone and chat if you wish. And the hot water is actually hot! I definitely recommend this place!

The view and the owner are really kind! Also breakfast 🍳 was good!

The family was the best, shoutout to you. The food was homemade and delicious. The rooms were good. Golden King shows and helped us to see the best things of Nuwara Eliya.

Accommodation in a small bed and breakfast in the tranquil part of Nuwara Eliya, perched on a hill above the town. Cozy room with a double bed, bathroom, and hot running water. Absolutely wonderful hosts, Udaya and Dinosha, with excellent English and a willingness to assist with anything. They were helpful in optimizing our travel plans, saving us quite a bit of money. Breakfasts and other daily meals prepared by the hospitable Dinosha were absolutely delicious. Unforgettable conversations with the young, well-educated Udaya on a wide range of topics from history to the present of Sri Lanka. Highly recommended. P.S. Watch out for their older son – he's exceptionally good at the game 'Spot it' ('Dobble') 😉.

We were surprised at the end to pay more than at a restaurant for one small dish (8e for a plate of lasagna), expansive for Sri Lanka. The same for laundry, we paid 10euros which is expansive. Wifi was ok but not enough to work (you can use 4g and share connection)
