Villa Caotorta

the place is immaculate, there is not one spec of dust anywhere, everything looks brand new, the shower, the bedding, it's very very clean and comfortable. the villa itself is breathtaking, every detail is amazing, the villa is from another century but stuff like key locks work like butter, like they were installed yesterday. The bed is large and comfortable. The breakfast was an experience in itself, a variety of foods were served, all really tasty, the owner bakes goodies every day, we wished we had more room in our stomachs to fit more in, it was a real treat! Even the animals are really friendly, 4 cats and 2 dogs, all very sweet, they kept us company. You can really see how much the owners care about the place and the guests, sometimes even too much.

the owner is everpresent, constantly around, always talking to you, asking questions, you feel like you're always watched and can never get a break from human contact. it's truly an introvert nightmare. She's always giving instructions like don't sit here, don't eat here, do this do that, use these glasses for wine not these.. we felt quite stressed out. also you feel like you have zero privacy, the cleaner moves your stuff around, I couldn't find my bra and underwear, it was moved somewhere and I was running around trying to find it. I felt very uncomfortable knowing someone had touched my personal items. The cleaner also took away our pillows for some reason.. we were there only two days but the room was cleaned twice during that time. Also we had a big candle in the room, very romantic, we wanted to light it but we're told it cannot be touched for safety reasons. why put the candle there in the first place then? in the end we did light it but felt super guilty for asking to light it and did not enjoy it at all. The bed is very comfortable but the frame is a trap for your thighs, I ran into it twice, it was very painful, I left home with a huuuge painful bruise. There is no roofed area to park guests car. And I was disappointed to see they did not remember the special requirement I asked for during booking.

Reginato family who are exceptional hosts, amazing 18th century villa with a wonderful atmosphere.
