We have stayed here two other times and loved it. Not so much this time. The room we had was a disabled person‘s room, which would’ve been fine except the water from the shower kept leaking all over the floor because there was no shower door. The bed was extremely loaded the ground and the mattress was horrible. We did not know they were doing construction at the property and the workers started arriving right below our room at 7:30 AM. Unfortunately, the people that were above us trumped around until two in the morning the first night, which kept us awake along with a very uncomfortable bed. We discussed the problem with the front desk staff twice, asking for a room change, nothing was available. We asked the staff to let us know how they were going to handle the situation, no one contacted. The people above us were somewhat quieter the second night but still could be heard tromping around. The point being that the insulation between the levels is greatly lacking, evidently. The other times we stayed here there was no one above us therefore I have no idea how well those rooms/floors were insulated. When we arrived, I noticed an odd odor that was almost like a cigarette smoking odor that had been attempted to have been mitigated, obviously unsuccessfully. Each time we left and came back to the room. I would notice it immediately. The facility is a non-smoking facility. Most likely we will look for another place to stay on trips to Carmel, too bad we used to like this place.

The property was beautiful, the views amazing. Love the room it has a full kitchen and very spacious. Wish the spa facilities included and manicurist. Also wish there was room service available. Other the. That the hotel is lovely the views amazing and enjoyed out stay very much.

I had an amazing stay at The Francis House! The property is absolutely beautiful and exudes European charm -it truly felt like a getaway to Europe without leaving the country. The service was exceptional from start to finish, and every corner of the house was spotless. Breakfast each morning was not only included, but also absolutely delicious -a perfect way to start the day. The attention to detail throughout the house really stood out, from the elegant decor to thoughtful touches like a Dyson blow dryer (wish I had known -I wouldn’t have packed mine!)
