Kelleys Island Venture Resort

Beautiful resort. Secluded. Very clean. Comfortable and quiet. Front desk gentleman was nice and personable

Pool was not open when we returned from all day activities. That was a bummer

The upstairs bed pillow had hairs on it and a bottle cap in the sheets. Hottub was just warm and dirty. No jets running little kids in it splashing no policy for that Very hard to reach someone regarding anything. Smelled like puke behind steps and our room key did not work the 2nd day but nobody in office to tell

Basic property in a nice location. This is a two- story motel style lodging. I'm not sure what resort refers to. There is a hot tub and pool that weren't open because it was before season. It has a small deck on the lake across the street. This is an older, dates property that's well maintained with nice grounds. Onsite staff is minimal. You'll have to call an offsite call center for most things. It is the only motel style lodging on the island.

It was a great place to stay. It was very relaxing and peaceful.

The first room we had booked was not cleaned. They did give us another room. The TV didn’t work, the bathroom door was difficult to close and the seemed like it could have been cleaned better. I expected for 2 nights so much more for $700

Stayed in the Cunningham suite with girlfriends- girls getaway trip. Website with views and amenities sounded lovely. Cost $625 per night with taxes but split 4 ways was fair. Beautiful from the outside but inside much to be desired. Both toilets with mold rings, bathtub not cleaned, missing hair dryer, cobwebs in living room area with dead bugs, cheap towels, bottom of shower curtain moldy. Balcony porch with chairs covered in cobwebs and dead bugs. The kitchen was nicely appointed.

Dead bugs all over the bed and headboard upon check in. Marvin was the only one working, so couldn’t get anyone to change the bedding. We had to change it ourselves. Pool was dirty, “hot” tub was gross and cold.

I’ve stayed here several times. Since this is the only non-BNB hotel on the island worth staying at, and it’s clean, I can’t really balk at the prices. That being said, there should be more included with the price of the rooms - for example, the previous owners provided free bicycles. The room seemed mostly clean and I wasn’t worried about bugs. The front desk was friendly enough, they must be struggling to find cleaning help because they do not automatically change out your linens or trash. Be prepared to pay if you want early check-in. The online reservation system isn’t great - once you “book” your room, it’s not confirmed yet, you have to wait for Arraiva to email you (several hours later) and then you have to go back into their site and provide your credit card info again. Only then do you get a reservation confirmation email. There is no warning about this when you initially book your room, so you could miss that 2nd step if you’re not on top of your email.

We had a great family getaway at the Venture Resort. The room was much larger than expected. The beds were clean and comfortable with cool crisp sheets. The garden and pool area were lovely and well maintained. There were lots of patio chairs with the rooms to use as well. During our stay, it was quiet and restful. The refrigerator and microwave both worked great. There wasn’t a ton of freezer space, so just be aware if you bring a cooler and need to keep reusable ice packs frozen. The bath/shower has a retractable clothesline which is super helpful for drying swimsuits after the pool or lake. My only complaints are that the carpet seemed dirty, after walking on it barefoot my young son’s feet got pretty dirty. I would wear shoes in the room at all times if we return. I don’t have high expectations of in room coffee makers and their complementary coffee, but the coffee in the room was the worst I’ve ever tasted. Luckily I had a backup plan with some canned iced coffee.

Good luck with using on-line reservation service. This service is going to cost the owners bookings. I hope the owners of Kellys Island Venture Resort read this and try to get the service that they paid for fixed. You must have patience! I had to make two phone calls to get a confirmation.
