Independence Stay Hotel & Suites

The hot tub in our room was excellent. Just what we needed to relax. The room was superbly cleaned and the staff was very nice and helpful. I even added a last minute birthday package for my significant other and they accommodated me quickly before check in. Very pleased with the experience. We are upset we had to leave a day early due to the snow storm that was coming the day we were supposed to leave.

The hotel was superior in cleanliness. One of the friendliest. The manager was so helpful and we loved the coffee bar with cookies offered at anytime. We will stay again if in the area.

I didn't like my room 107. The jet tub didn't work at all. It seemed like the knob was broken. Also the bed was very uncomfortable. When I left, they didn't ask how my stay was just given my receipt paper and said, "Have a safe trip home. Just makes for a bad first-time experience, which sometimes you get at hotels. But at least you find where to go and not to go.

I set my app filters to travel with a pet and have a hot tub in the room for a romantic getaway. The app suggested I stay here and I rented the room. It's was 3 hours from where we lived, and we stopped for a nice dinner before arriving at 11pm. to check in. The front desk asked me if we had a dog, and I said yes. She then denied me access to the hot tub room and told us we would have a pet suite for the same price as a hot tub suite. The "pet suite" was the same as a regular room but had a living room area in it. I didn't book a room for my dog to have a living room to drive 3 hours one way! I told her we have a crate for the small dog and hadn't ever been denied a room because of my small dog. She said she would wave the pet fee for the inconvenience. I told her we drove here for a hot tub room, and the $20 pet fee being waived is unexceptable if I am being charged the same price for a regular room as a hot tub room. I asked to speak with a manager, and she said no. If we don't like it, we can find a new place to stay!!! At 11pm at night!!! The room was booked as a non refundable room!!! We were trapped and very disappointed. I then asked if we could use the pool or public hot tub, and it was broken and not listed as such on this app or the hotel website. The reason we even left our home and rented the room was to get away and relax in a hot tub. After driving 6 hours total we went home as soon as we woke up very disappointed. What a WASTE of time and money! Before leaving the place, I spoke to the manager, Kelly. He agreed that the dog in the crate would HAVE been allowed. He apologized for the rude customer service and said that if I would give his hotel another chance, he would honor a standard room price for a hot tub room next time. NEXT TIME?!?!He took $20 more off the reservation. I WOULD HAVE NEVER WENT THERE IF I COULDN'T STAY IN A HOT TUB ROOM, IT WAS THE POINT OF THE ENTIRE TRIP. THERE WON'T BE A NEXT TIME AT THIS...
