Really good and clean hotel. Friendly staff.

When we visited the restaurant, it became clear within a few minutes that the overall setup and the staff profile were completely different from what the hotel’s name and presentation suggested. What stood out even more was that two pictures (Mata Laxmi) placed on the wall appeared to be used only for show, without adding any real ambience or theme to the place. The most concerning part was the extremely unhygienic food service. In front of me, a family ordered chapati, and the waiter served it without wearing proper headgear and after wiping his hands in an unclean manner. The entire scene felt like a roadside food stall rather than a hotel restaurant. At that point, I realised something was seriously wrong with the management. When I asked the reception who was running the restaurant or for the owner’s details, they did not share any information. Because of these issues, I decided not to take the complimentary breakfast and planned to check out as early as possible.

My Review of V V Grand Hotel, Chennai (Stay: 04 December 2025 to 05 December 2025 – Rooms 205 & 206) I would like to begin by stating that I hold no bias against any religion, caste, or community. This review reflects only my personal experience during my stay at V V Grand Hotel, which I booked through the Booking.com application. From the moment I arrived, the property did not feel like a proper hotel. Instead, it felt more like an OYO-type lodge, and the actual condition was very different from what was shown online. Despite a long and tiring journey from Tripura, and reaching the hotel around 8:30 PM, We did not use the complimentary tea, dental kit, or any other amenities in either room Another major issue was that both rooms were allotted separately, despite my clear request during booking for adjoining rooms, as my family was in the other room. This caused inconvenience and I could not sleep the whole night. The next morning, I contacted the front desk for a taxi to Mahabalipuram. The staff member spoke rudely and insisted that he would arrange it himself. When I asked for the rate, he called back quoting ₹4,000 plus extra charges. However, from his background conversation on another call, it was obvious he was discussing a rate closer to ₹3,000. This created a sense of mistrust and lack of transparency. In my opinion, the quality of a hotel is not defined only by rooms or bathrooms, but by the honesty, behaviour, and professionalism of the staff. Unfortunately, my overall experience at this property was disappointing and did not match the expectations created at the time of booking.

Hotel is located off the center of Chennai but close enough to airport to offer decent lodging for flights in or out. My flight was at 0400 and needed to leave at 1 AM, and this hotel was the best value for comfort, cleanliness and amenities compared with hotels airports. Getting to airport is fast within 15-20 minutes but at 1 AM Chennai traffic is nonexistent, during the day will need to factor in delay (average speed in daytime traffic is no more than 25 KPH when I came up from Mahaballipuram to Chennai in the afternoon). There are limited parking in the hotel driveway Room is slightly small but adequate, very comfortable with good functioning AC, fan and ample hot shower. There are decent amenities like tea kettle, plush towels, and blanket in the room. Nearby are numerous shops but cannot comment on restaurants as I had meals earlier in the day. Staff is welcoming but I did not require much from them. Overall, good value for brief stay in Chennai
