Sterling Shivalik Chail

The staff and food was good. But this resort is in between kufri and chail and you can't find anything 15 kms either way.

The pictures of the resort looks like the view is facing the valley. But none of the rooms face the valley and they open to an under construction building.

The location of the hotel was amazing. Completely silent and isolated from the city shores.

The room offers view, but that was blocked by on-going construction.

​I booked Sterling Shivalik Chail based on a previous amazing experience with Sterling, but this time I noticed a few areas that need attention. ​I planned this holiday for relaxation, but Room 306 (Super Deluxe) faced a construction site instead of the mountains. I dealt with loud noise throughout my stay. Secondly, I suggest providing two-wheeler rentals for local sightseeing. Driving a car or cab through the mountains for short 3–4 km trips is very hectic; bikes would be much more convenient. ​Overall, the experience was still good and the food was delicious. Although overall stay was ok including Room Service, cleanliness. Food served was also of good quality.

Although overall stay was ok but at the time of check out I had to catch a train from Chandigarh and requested the hotel for small taxi but was informed that only big taxis go to Railway Station and was charged for big taxi on the other hand I traveled in big taxi from Sterlling Chail to Shimla and thereafter I was told to get down and from there another small taxi was waiting for dropping me to Chandigarh Railway Station. I was charged for big taxi and ultimately traveled to the Chandigarh Railway Station in a small taxi even after paying the price of big taxi. Also the Food served was little overpriced. Location was also quite far from the main Chail attractions.
