Excellent location. Lovely room with private bath. Beautiful breakfast room with great food. Matsue is a worthwhile destination in Japan

Poor communication ( did not answer my 2 emails requesting Willows reservation). Was not value for money when compared to other comparable accomodations we booked on this 2 week road trip.

"Exceptional"

Irish writer Lafcadio Hearn （Japanese name Yakumo Koizumi）used to staying here for several years. The hotel staffs are all kind and nice. The breakfast seems healthy and tastes good. The box for breakfast is printed some local words and you can learn some local languages from it. Our seats capture the beauty of Lake Shinji. It’s a very pleasant stay.

"Amazing Japanese style hotel!"

Beautifully decorated room with fantastic view, looking over the river and Ohashi historical bridge. Their hot springs healed my swollen hand overnight. The staff are very helpful and very knowledgeable. They try to accommodate everyone.

"Great spot to unwind"

2nd stay in two months but this time as a family. 6th floor room overseeing the river was amazing. Amazing service provided by the hotel staff. Will definitely be back in the future.

"Exceptional"

This is an historic Ryokan, refurbished several times over the years. All the expected services, wonderful staff. Our room had a fantastic view up and down the river. In the morning near dawn we could watch the shinjiko clam boats heading for the lake. The dinners were unexcelled, not standard Kaiseki, but multi-course with refreshingly new tastes. We found this an excellent place to stay and visit both Izumo Tasha and Miho Jinja.
