Wyndham Vacation Resorts Royal Garden at Waikiki

it was located near a lot of the shops, stores and restaurants.

It wasn’t what I expected as a Wyndham property. it felt like staying at someone’s home instead of a hotel or resort.

The valet guys were always friendly

No coffee; beds very old and uncomfortable; too far from the beach; very noisy; no food on the property; pool too small; the parking is the worst I have ever encountered

The guard is there when we got in and usher us the check in process. They didn't have to call him so we didn't have to wait.

Room 1909 - Bed, beddings, roll a way bed - needs new sheeting and padding. it feels like we are sleeping on the box spring. Kitchen is very poor - lack of cooking equipment, plates, glass wares, silver wares, kitchen sink is very outdated. Bathroom - shower curtains leaks, sink is out dated - faucets is flowing either hard or soft that causes water splatter everywhere. Beddings are so bad. One of the bed is not bed it is the box spring. Too small to sleep 4. This is definitely the lowest point.

When we arrived we realised that the third bed was a trundle bed. I had earlier emailed to check that there were three separate beds, but didn't perhaps explain that as we were three women with various physical limitations (not disabilities) a bed on the floor was not going to work. The host responded very promptly, sending another fold out bed and wine glasses. Great response to our problem. There was also an issue with electricity at one stage (only one power point but it was the one in the "kitchen") and again, we had someone come to check very quickly. The bathroom was very roomy and three women didn't have any trouble coordinating! The price was appropriate for the accommodation, the bus is just around the corner and the beach a 10 minute walk away. The pool was small but with great shade available and never crowded.

The problem with the third bed was that it then took up the only spare floor space but we were okay sitting on the beds. It really is a very small studio, the kitchen is just a small bench with a microwave and enough room for the two plate burner. The sink is so small that unfortunately the wine glasses didn't fit and I broke one (sorry :().

I liked everything about it except the poor way an unexpected power outage in my room was handled.

Power outage in room handled very poorly. I made several calls to security as advised as the contact for emergencies but he showed little concern. I was told other rooms were also affected and it would be fixed in 2 hours of my first call but 4 hours later it had still not been fixed and the security guard made no effort to contact me. I was literally in the dark and had to open the door to get lighting from the hall. I was unable to shower, cook anything or make a cup of tea. The room had no emergency lighting by way of a torch and I couldn’t charge my phone either. I rang security again only to be told that the electrician had gone home so I was left in a room with no power in the dark and no suggestion from the security guard as to what I should do. It was only when I rang a mobile number on my email confirmation that was for emergencies if I couldn’t reach the security guard that that person obviously took the necessary action to have the security guard fix it. In all I was about 7 hours without any power. The security guard was not very pleasant when he eventually came to my room to check the power had been restored.
