"Love it "

10.0

Great place in the heart of jungle, without any city noise, so quite and peaceful! Delicious breakfast by the poolside was just lovely! Friendly staff. We decided to stay for a day longer! Highly recommended!

"Quiet, great hosts and excellent breakfast"

10.0

These little cabins were very quiet, the pool was nice and clean, the hosts went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and the cook makes an amazing yet healthy breakfast. This place is out of town but it was very easy and inexpensive to get a taxi. We also used their laundry service and loved it.

"Comfortable, great breakfast, wonderful pool, pretty good service"

8.0

The good: great breakfasts-worth the price; new management staff helpful in arranging taxis & tours; dinners were reasonable and adequate, nothing special; pool was clean and huge; lots of birds around the area; bed was comfortable and linens ok. We were provided with an itemized bill that showed all beverages & meals that we ordered. Not so good: cabana was not very clean and could use a new coat of paint on the walls.

"Terrible experience!!! AVOID!!!"

2.0

Terrible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. It offers many things in its add but they're all broken or no longer available. The worst experience we had was the actual manager or supervisor Adriana who seems all sweet in the beginning and then she goes hard sales on you. When you don't play to their tune they're ready and capable to embarass you in front of the guests. We were overcharged and double charged there! When we asked for an itemized bill for everything we bought there we were promissed it the following day but unfortunately never got that as the supervisor was too drunk to remember. Also asked for a taxi for early in the morning (4.20am) in order to catch a bus for our next flight from Villahermosa (2h drive from Palenque). Trust me you don't want to miss a plane in Mexico. The supervisor assured the taxi was booked but it never came so we had to, literaly, run through the pitch dark bush and find our way to the bus station. Nightmare experience. These guys also call themselves eco and all organic!! Don't fall for that as most hotels in the area use this trick. Their rooms are dirty as dirt can be, spiders, lizzards, broken toilet tank, etc. Avoid!!!

"Nice Quiet Good Breakfast"

8.0

We arrived late and owner offered to give us a ride up the road to a restaurant that was open and explained how to get taxi back. We found the owner Oscar and his wife nice and helpful and the breakfast very nice in the nice outdoor setting. (110 pesos didn't seem outrageous for where it was and the quality) The pool was great to come back to each day. Room was ok nothing great. It is several km down a dirt road and need a taxi really to get to ruins etc. We did walk it back from where the 20 peso bus let us off but it was a bit far and taxis are pricey around there. (always close to 100 pesos for anything)

"Bad experience!"

2.0

The place is ok but we had several bad experiences remaining to the owner who is totally in charge... He is not a good host and he was rude to me and another woman that was also staying there. Then he charged us a soap container that felled down in the middle of the night and my husband complained about it (on a nice way) on Airbnb instead of taking the advice to get better he gave us a negative opinion and lied he said we were running without paying and more lies 😐 the most freaky situation I have ever been in!

"Pretty flowers, disappointing service."

4.0

We arrived very late at night after a 10 hour travel day, dripping with sweat and exhausted. However, before being shown to our room, the owner had to painstakingly write our receipt for our entire four day stay - and, he made us pay in full up front- before we even put our bags down!! We had to empty our own trash each day since the maid did so only once (not ideal in the steamy jungle when you have to throw ALL used toilet paper in the trashbin). Pricing was not made clear, and we had sticker shock upon paying, since we were never told how much the breakfast was, etc. Honestly, we thought it was included since NO ONE SAID A THING! We ate dinner at El Columbre only once, and it was terrible - we couldn't even touch our meals, but no one asked if anything was wrong - we were just charged for the meal and that was that. Our room smelled like mildew the whole time due to bad engineering in the shower. Could have also been a sewer problem - sewer gas? The location, though only accessible by taxi (no combis pass directly by), was beautiful. There's a nice pool, flowering trees around, and views of the birds. It's pretty quiet. The breakfast is wonderful, though no one tells you it costs $110 pp until you check out. Seems like some kinks need to still be worked out - we got the strong sense that money was the primary concern, and clarity/ transparency/ cleanliness took a backseat.

"Manage your expectations"

8.0

It does get quite humid in the house. Strangely our bed sheet didn't fit the bed, could that be the local custom? Did they run out of clean sheets? It was a sheet which covered barely the bed, you could see the mattress on the sides. As soon as you lay on the bed, your skin came in contact with the mattress.... But grounds were beautiful, we saw macaws. Would stay there again but need to address this bed sheet issue.

"Beautiful cabanas in quiet rural area just outside Palenque"

8.0

Oscar and his team are really friendly and lovely. The cabanas, gardens, swimming pool area are all really gorgeous. You see and hear all sorts of birds and wildlife, including howler monkeys and parrots. If you love nature and authentic people and places you will love El Colombre. The town and ruins are close and taxis and collectivos are plentiful.

"Peace in your travel. Amazing breakfast"

10.0

Great place to stay outside the town. Just a few cottages and you are in the middle of the nature. Absolutely beautiful. The owner are very nice and helpful. Great tips to visit new places unknown like Roberto Bario. The cottages are very good. The breakfast is delicious. Amazing place to stay. To go to the town you must get a cab. Very close to the ruins of paleque. Stay there for peaceful time, you won't regret!
