Hotel Casa Colombre Palenque

I had such an amazing stay here..In the heart of this incredible jungle I felt relaxed, taken care of, at ease...we had amazing hosts-Karen & Oscar--they had the best tips for getting around, went out of their way to make sure we had a great trip. My whole family had the best food, the best atmosphere...will be back to do it again, and highly recommend it.

El Colombre is definitely great place to stay for your Palenque visit. We stayed here 3 nights and we wished we could stay there longer. We run small B&B ourselves, so when travelling we are looking for similar concepts to ours and know quite well what makes such places not just good, but great! 1. Owners. Karen & Oscar are doing great job as hosts. Advice, help and solutions are always next to you. They have an inspiring story to tell how they converted this place into what it is today and what vision and plans they have for the future. 2. Wonderful garden and pool creates a special atmosphere at El Colombre. Beautiful views, natural sounds and cool fresh water will make you feels like in heaven after day tours you probably gonna take. 3. Breakfast with home made bread was really good. Couple of tips: It's definitely better to come here with a car (as we did), but if you came to Palenque just for ruins it should be fine as well. If you have some more time to visit places around definitely go to Cascada de Roberto Barrios, which is not so much advertised yet, but definitely must to see ( it is on the way from Palenque to Bonampak (ask Karen for detailed driving directions). If you plan to go to Yaxchilan and Bonampak ( which we believe is worth it even after amazing Palenque ruins) try to leave early as keep in mind that to reach Yaxchilan you'll have to take boat, which is about an hour each way).

I stayed here for 4 nights and found it perfect for my stay! The hosts Oscar and Karen are very warm, caring, hospitable and tended to our every need. The property is lovely. Lush green gardens that are well kept, a good size swimming pool, which is very clean and the sounds of nature which surround you make for a perfect relaxed and low key get away. The cabanas are basic, but you have everything you need and if you find that you are missing something in the room, just ask the hosts and they will gladly accommodate you. The breakfast was awesome! I loved the bread and fresh fruits in the morning. I would definitely recommend this wonderful place to all my friends who are looking for a quiet place to connect with nature and disconnect from the busy and hectic lives we all have now and if I would ever go to Palenque again, I would definitely stay here again.

+: Great place, where you can relax around the pool after a long day of visits. Hosts are very welcoming and serve a very nice breakfast and dinner (not included in room price). We had the room at the back, there was no view but it was very charming. -: no internet. Which can be nice to completely have a break. Dinner was sometimes a bit light in quantity.

Just what we were looking for! Brought the whole family to celebrate my sixtieth birthday and we found this place to be perfect. Pool was great, the gardens were a photographers paradise! We enjoyed the lovely healthy breakfasts and Karen and Oscar and their two beautiful Lab dogs made us feel very welcome. Beds and rooms very comfortable and loved the Mayan décor! perfect location to see the ruins and the beautiful zoo. Eating at Don Mucho's with the live music was a lot of fun! We would definitely recommend this "little jewel" to spend a perfect Palenque vacation.
