Candlewood Suites - Joliet Southwest by IHG

The bed was comfortable.

The description was misleading. This hotel was supposedly a new building, it's not. Just a remodel. It's two hotels connected to a convention center. Two big hotels serving a tiny freezing pool, and a miniscule hot tub with moldy walls. When checking in the desk clerk never made eye contact and didn't confirm my reservation for a king suite. I gave her my confirmation #, but she refused to even look at the page on my phone. This simple act would have saved so much grief. I was given keys, but not told where my room was. I went to the wrong hotel, had to lug my stuff back to the desk and ask why my keys didn't work. THEN she told me I was in the other building. Keys still didn't work, had to go back AGAIN to get new keys. Opened the door, not a King suite, it's a double handicap access room. Called the desk, they insisted that is what I booked, but said I could switch. Back to the desk with all my stuff again, only to have the clerk tell me I never talked to anyone. Then she once again looked at her screen and said the room was right, and pushed the key card back toward me. I showed her the reservation on my phone screen from booking.com showing a KING SUITE. She still insisted she was right. Manager finally switched me. By the way, THE ROOM WAS NOT A SUITE! Suites have a separate bedroom, this was one room. Everything about this booking was AWFUL. The listing is misleading, it should clearly state this is not a new hotel, and that two hotels share all the amenities. Especially because of the convention center, which makes for a huge crowd. This fact wasn't clear either. I will never stay here again and I don't recommend anyone else stay here either.

The room was clean, staff was friendly

The walk to the room was long after checking in at the Holiday Inn. Didn't expect the $50 charge for incidentals

I rooms are excellent for the price

It had a really nice restaurant, everything was clean and well kept !

This is probably on the joint hotels fault, but the pool and hot tub could use some cleaning!

Very clean, new hotel, large room, comfortable beds, would recommend and definitely would stay here again.
