"Can't recommend."

4.0

Historic and that's it. The hotel is run down and not worth the price. It was suggested we make reservations in the restaurant which I suspect is for staffing because there was only one table with guests, we ate elsewhere.

Elevator was and has been out of service since 2024. The hotel has no rooms on street level and is very difficult to load baggage to your room. Also anyone with a handicap disability has big difficulty getting to their room. Front desk seemed unconcerned and no bellman available to help with luggage. Coffee is supposed to be available in the lobby but was never hot. They provided packages muffins that were not fresh. We won’t stay here again.

I loved the Giant movie memorabilia! The room was excellent! The location was also very convenient to the places we visited. We really enjoyed having a drink on the patio. Great ambience!

The man who checked us, he was younger, was disinterested in being of service. When we entered, he was reading and did not look up until he finished his page. He seemed put out that we disturbed him. The elevator wasn't working, and according to him, it had been broken for a long time. He gave a horrible first impression.

"Historically Classic!"

8.0

This hotel is steeped in classic architecture and historical flavor having accommodated the cast of the movie, “Giant”, starring Cary Grant, Elizabeth Taylor and James Dean (just to name a few). The room we stayed in was once two rooms converted into a larger one with two comfy beds and two bathrooms (nice feature, although one bathroom had issues with commode flushing and the other with water temp in the shower…? Not sure how that happens, but taking into account the age of the property, it was a minor issue.) The onsite restaurant and bar offered lovely options for both food and beverage – that can be enjoyed in their quaint and charming courtyard near the fountain. The first night we were there, they featured live music in the courtyard and the weather was beautiful…so, it made for an exceptional evening experience. There is NO elevator (yet!…though you can tell they are installing one), so anyone with mobility issues (climbing stairs), or in a wheelchair could not stay here. Take into account, Marfa, Texas is a drive! It’s approximately 8 hours from DFW and I am unsure where the closest regional airport might be….so, you will have to put in some windshield time. But, once you are there….the world renown Chinati Art Exhibit is a must see!…and, totally unexpected in this tiny, west Texas town. I highly recommend you visit - at least once!

Room was spacious, but bathroom was the size of an airplane bathroom. Balcony was good sized but it looked over 3 dumpsters and construction that woke us up early. Elevator didn’t work. Service in the restaurant was not good, with items served wrong, difficulty in getting more to drink and taking forever to pay. This place has a lot of promise, but it is not there yet.
