CityFlatsHotel - Port Huron, Ascend Hotel Collection

Was in town for business. Hotel is very cool. it isn't the prototypical hotel as it doesn't have vending machine or snack options at the counter just so people are aware. But I would definitely book this hotel again.

I would've given it a much higher rating but they had a ladies night out going on in the banquet room and it was LOUD lasting from 7om till 1115 pm with women screaming (male dance show), LOUD music and DJ and booming bass. It ruined our "escape" to focus on relaxation. Had I been warned, I never would have stayed on a night with an event like that going on. There was no parking either because of the event and I had to find a parking spot way down in another section

While I appreciate the design aesthetic on the room, fixtures and bath, the comfort of the stay was lacking. Kudos for converting an old bank and repurposing it into a viable alternative. The entry to the lobby on the 2nd floor is confusing and not clearly marked. After going in and out of several door and hallways, I finally found signage to take the lift up, only to wander more hallways in search of reception. My primary disappointmen was with the temperature of the room. It was particullarily cold for November in Michigan. The room never did heat up after I turned the thermostat up on the mounted wall unit to the maximum allowable setting of 74 F. The floors and windows were freezing. Additionally if you happen to book a room river facing, beware of the sound of the steel plates throughout the night of the bridge at the corner. Double paned gass windows Insulated and sound deading would have gone a long way to make my stay as comforatble as the room looked. It's a shame that this was passed over when the rooms were redesigned. If the room isn't comfortable, I don't care how nice it looks.

A lot of traffic noise but other than that it’s an amazing hotel with modern and stylish rooms

Cool old bank building, hotel rooms on third floor. Room was great. Downtown Port Huron great as well.

The historical location is what drew us to the hotel. The room is impressively designed. The bathtub was lovely, bed comfortable.

It really felt like a self-service place. We didn’t read the 4 inch sign at check in, annd no one mentioned that you need to notify staff if you want your room cleaned or towels. We stayed three nights, and when we returned to our room the second night, there were still no towels. We asked at the desk at 10:30 and they said they’d send someone the next day. We were out of the room most of the day, but no one came. We went to the desk and were told they’d send someone immediately. By then we wanted to rest. They finally came while we were gone for dinner. No breakfast for that price of a room was not acceptable. If food service isn’t available, the price should be lowered. Finally, after arriving back at 10;00 at night the last night, the parking lot was being renovated. We had to park a block away and then in the morning drag our luggage to the car because the lot was still closed and there were no parking places close by. A message could have been texted to let us know that was happening. Staff was very dismissive. Oh, well. Sorry you’re old was the attitude. The staff admitted how difficult the place is to navigate to rooms.

Great reuse of an old bank building. The interior design is great. Would definitely stay here again. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is that although being seemingly empty, they put us in room 302 which looked out onto the adjacent roof top with many very large mechanical units which at times were quite noisy.
