"lack of wifi, windowless room, not going back"

4.0

The staff was rude when I checked in about room choices, even though I only asked about options politely. Internet speed was something I have not seen in 2 decades. Barely above 1MBps but it felt even slower. Basic text content from the web, few 100Kbs loading in minutes. When I asked the front desk, they said I would be welcome to pay extra for faster speed. So that's what it was about: providing miserable speed so that the guests would pay. Overall decent room, and if my meal order hadn't been screwed up too, I'd probably be OK with the experience. But for $250, a basic room with a wall in front of the window (just don't make it into a room if it does not have a few square foot of a window, period) and literally no wifi and a mediocre restaurant experience, I would go elsewhere.

"Great experience even for just an overnighter. Will definitely come back!"

Having been familiar with this location prior to AC Hotel Honolulu obtaining this property, I was pleasantly surprised. Nicely appointed and great service. This was a much needed hotel for the downtown area.

Location Gr8. The arranged taxi to our cruise. Had a stapler I used to secure our ship bag tags & staff had great suggestions for food in the area. We walked to Pier 2 the night before so we knew just where we would be going.

"Green"

10.0

I came to stay in Honolulu for 5 days, mainly for conference. There weren't much for me to pack; a handy carry-on baggage was what I needed. How about sunscreen? I didn't bring that because most of them would have exceeded the allowed capacity. And I realized that there is the concept of leaving nature as it is or making it better in Hawaii. That's referred to in the islands as mālama ‘āina, meaning to take care of the land in Hawaiian. After checking in the hotel, I asked about sunscreen. They didn't sell this, and neither did the adjacent 7-11. Guess what, the staff handed me second-hand one, presumably passed on from previous hotel guests. That is so warm. On the day of checking out, I knew an eco-friendly or mālama ‘āina act would be to return the sunscreen, hopefully to be passed on. Go green.
