Pilot Cove Forest Lodging

Excellent place to stay

We enjoyed our stay at Pilot Cove, but I would not return in the colder months. With temps in the low 30's, the two small wall heaters could not put out enough heat to warm the cabin. The bathroom was far away from a heating unit and had cold concrete floors. We ended up turning on the oven and opening the oven door to stay warm during breakfast. That said, our cabin was quiet and we did feel like we were nestled in the trees. The bed was comfortable and we found what we needed to make breakfast. It was nice to be able to bring our dog. The location is ideal, less than 15 minutes from the Looking Glass Rock trailhead. There is an awesome bike shop called The Hub at the base of the Pilot Cove hill that fixed my flat tire while we waited. This is a great spot for the summer or early fall, but not for the end of November.

Great location in the heart of Pisgah Forest, near the national forest entrance.

Pet fee is a little high for short/weekend stays. The same $100 fee applies to any length of stay. Would much prefer <$50 for a short stay and $100 for a week-long stay.

We love Brevard and came for a quick get away to see the beautiful fall color in the mountains. We picked Pilot Cove because it was a new place that looked modern and close to everything. We enjoyed our stay. The only disappointment was not having coffee filters to make coffee in the morning and enjoy the porch. Also, the fan in the bedroom we couldn’t reach the pull strings to adjust it. Easily redeemable. What wasn’t pleasant was sitting on the porch and listening to the trucks unloading at Walmart which is right under us down in the valley. I would have preferred something further away from the traffic. That’s why you want a weekend getaway.

The view off the deck was awesome. The bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the heated bathroom. At the entrance to Pilot Cove was a coffee trailer that had some of the best coffee around. They also have fried donuts which were fried to order and you could choose what flavor. Those were a special treat.
