"Peaceful getaway in nature."

The property is in the middle of the park and very secluded. The kitchen facilities were excellent and the staff very helpful.

It hostel-style so there is a kitchen for cooking meals and shared bathroom/shower facilities. Just be aware that you can only use the kitchen 8 am-8:30 pm which is a little restrictive. It would be nice if there was a microwave and small sink in the meadow house for after-hours use. I would love to stay again, the scenery is incredibly beautiful.

"Beautiful location but very expensive for space that doesn’t have much privacy. You can hear everything."

Beautiful location. Comfortable bed. Clean bathroom. 2 out of 3 staff were very nice.

Bathroom was down the hall so had to get dressed to go. One kinda rude unfriendly staff person.

Love this western exposure natural location. Gorgeous and clean hotel. I felt so at home I wish I could live here.

If it were mine I would clear the invasives and old garden plants of the property and replace with natural flora which are beautiful and would fit better with the surrounding environment. But as far as a hotel/hostel goes this place is top notch. I love it so much.

"Unexpected and eventually enlightening, but not without some bumps (literately and figuratively)"

8.0

The natural environment is extraordinary; the beds are comfortable; the bedding high quality; the people who you meet there are interesting; it feels like a little bit of the spirit of Northern, CA, survived! This is actually a special place, but you have to come wiling to be open to the unexpected, and understand that it remains a hostel in body and soul.

Initially, I was taken aback, as I paid over $200 for a private room, with bathroom facilities that were subpar (not the sharing but the actual shower, bathroom etc.); the room was tiny; and there were a number of additional inconveniences; the outside is pitch dark and you need a headlamp to safely move between levels, not lose your footing. When I complained about what I saw as a discordance between the price I paid and the service I received, the staff handled my complaint in a gracious way and I felt they took the feedback seriously. I believe some changes will be made, however, I do believe it would be good for weary travelers especially solo women travelers to understand that the lodgings still carry the character of a hostel (with some charming visual improvements) without the price tag. Understanding this will help prepare the visitor and make a balanced decision. The lodgings in the dorm are, counter intuitively better, at least the showers, and very fairly priced though I must say that the bed in the private room is very comfortable, and the view cannot be beat. So in the end, despite my complaints, I felt it all worked out for the better.

This is a hostel type lodge in a National forest. If you like to hike, this is the place for you. With 53,000 acres to explore along the CA coastline, with wonderful tourist amenities nearby in Point Reyes Station, you are in for a wonderful experience.
