Cottage Suites

Availability of rooms for multiple family members. Bed was comfortable.

Tiny room and showers. Horrible water pressure. AC units not functioning. Apparently AC is shared between units so if one person tries to heat a room and someone else tries to cool a room it works for no one in any room - ridiculous. My tiny room cooled off with opening a window. But then I had to listen to even more noise from outside. My mother in laws room was too hot and she didn’t sleep well - even with the window open. Kept awake with what sounded like drilling or construction. My daughter’s room had a cockroach when we first got inside. Doors don’t automatically lock behind you. Poor communication. Messaged day of arrival and got no response. They will apparently allow you to extend your stay with 24 hours notice but they are not willing to let you shorten your stay - even with multiple days notice. Didn’t even hear back until near the end of the stay when AC stopped working. My room was so tiny I could touch all four walls without getting off the bed.

It was nice to have parking and smart to have keypad instead of having to meet with the person at an exact time

The bed frame seemed broken and the mattress kept moving and every time I went on bed it would make a noise as if it was gonna break

The price.

Photos and description did not mention that Cottage Suites studio in Middletown, NY, is on the second floor, above a store, and with limited parking. We had bikes on the back of our car and were concerned about them getting clipped due to small parking spot. The owner seems to be trying to provide a comfortable, affordable studio apartment, but we didn’t appreciate what was not included in the description.

I did not use my reservation. The area where the Cottage Suites is located, I found out, is known for its corruption. I arrived just before dusk, was reluctant to get out of my car, and went somewhere else. I did not report this. I had been in a very difficult time, but then I saw this in my email and thought a reply was the right thing to do.

Quiet and clean. Great restaurant downstairs. Free coffee with breakfast sandwich which worked out well since the room had a coffee maker but no coffee.

Nieghborhood seemed a bit sketchy. People outside walking around very late at night.

The location is perfect in the middle of Middletown where so many restaurants around. The bed is comfy (only a bit too soft, personal taste).

The smell of Indian cooking (?) so strong in the room.
