JOIVY Observatory Unique House on Calton Hill

The location was great, and the bathtub view superb.

The beds, lots of noise from the upstairs neighbors (yelling/singing etc after midnight, could hear everytime they walked around) all the tourists looking in the windows meant we had to keep the shutters closed. Didn't feel like the hosts did enough to protect their guests privacy. Also there was an alarm of some kind going off constantly the entire time and only 1 towel in the kitchen and 1 towel per person for 9 days.

The Observatory Apartment was positioned in a very nice location close to all the main areas of Edinburgh however you do have abit of a hike to get to the apartment, but was worth it as you got good views from all areas of the apartment, all of the cutlery and crockery was nice and clean, the apartment was very clean, I really liked the old characteristics of the apartment, the bed is two single beds pushed together, which was great for me and my brother so we could seperate them and extra covers were provided as well, which was great my favourite parts of the apartment, was definitely the bathroom, and I did really like the relaxing room too i just wish i brought some Vinly's with me for the Vinly player, but all areas of the apartment were very nice, very beautiful apartment, we were lucky though because above the apartment is the Observatory house, so if you get a very loud family you will be able to hear everything even them walking which may put some people off especially since their is a flight of stairs that lead to a locked room of the Observatory house, however we had nobody in the Observatory house until the last 2 days of our stay, but they were quiet.

My main issue with the Observatory apartment was definantly the public it never feels like you have any free time to yourself. The public is around the apartment at all hours. I was woken up many times by public in the early hours of the morning, talking and being loud. I wish they would have a gate to stop the public entering the area after a certain time. Also, the staff at the Observatory shop never close the gates at 5pm when the Observatory should be closed, so when me and my brother got back after a day trip at 9pm the gates were still open and public were still going into the Observatory, near the Observatory apartment, so I went and closed all of the gates even the staff gate, that day, because the last thing we needed was public all over the place after what was a tiring day as all we wanted to do was relax.

Decoración hermosa. Con muchas amenidades para hacer la instancia más cómoda. Te sientes durmiendo en un castillo. Baños y habitaciones muy lindos y cómodos.

Si andas con mucho equipaje se hace complejo transportar las maletas hacia y desde el lugar. Muchos turistas hasta altas horas de la noche mirando por las ventanas (22 hrs) y algunas sin cortinas.

House was amazing. Clean and comfortable.

Staff was supposed to meet us there with the key. They did not and said it was at there office which was a 15 min walk. We had just hauled all our luggage up to the apartment. We had to leave our luggage and go down to get the key. By the time we got it there was no other restaurants open or places for food. After traveling all day it made for a rough first night. Rest of the stay was great.

The location is unique and certainly provided some breathtaking views. They also put in some lovely bathroom fixtures.

The bed in this property was the worst I have ever slept on. They have taken two twin mattress and pushed them together. We could feel the springs poking into our backs all night. The duvet was also far too small for the bed as well. It was a very disappointing experience considering how cool the location is. There were also spiders all over the place so if you’re not a fan, keep that in mind.

Exceptional decoration and very beautiful view from every window of the house. We enjoyed the moment of Edinburgh sunset. The appliances in the house is very accessible.

The heating is working however the house is a bit chilling due to the structure of the building.

Great location. Long walk though so best to travel light when staying. Excellent kitchen/living/dining room

The bathtub and the view are nice.

There is next to no privacy. Can hear everything from the guests upstairs and the throngs of tourists directly outside the apartment. Children literally climbing up the walls. The door to the area that is supposed to be closed at 5 pm was not closed and I had tourists swarming the property until almost 11 pm. The bed is extremely cheap and uncomfortable, which is unacceptable at this price point.
