Fab little place! Loved it!

Additional £18 charge per night for parking! Requested as cash upon arrival. Parking is attached to property with no permit required, given the cost of the accommodation it would be good to offer this as part of the booking at no extra charge.

This is the second time I have stayed at the workshop and will be the only place I stay at going forward. The place is decorated excellent throughout and it’s not attached to anyone else so no noise disruption. The location is perfect and is just a lovely place.

Amazing location within a lovely walkable distance to the city centre. Quiet at night and very well soundproofed but loved being able to open the roof windows to listen to the church bells. Absolutely phenomenally decorated and designed property and quite possibly one of the nicest places we’ve stayed. Kitchen was very well supplied with enough that would have lasted for a longer stay too but we were only there for two nights and had everything we needed.

Parking cost was atrocious and didn’t appreciate the cost of it disclosed only after booking. £18 per night paid in cash during check in so £36 for two nights when not driving as a disabled person travelling from Scotland wasn’t an option. The parking space seems to be on the property itself given we were told to park as close to the door as possible as there was a staff car parked next to the main bedroom external doors in a cornered off patio almost around the corner that might need to be moved. Felt like we were charged it simply because there’s a car park opposite the front door which charges a little more. Likely still would have booked the property if it cost a little more to cover parking in the upfront cost given it was good value but would have much preferred not having such a steep hidden cost.

First, the property was not clean. There was excessive dust, and the dishes—as well as many other items—were dirty. We were forced to clean everything before use, even something as basic as a glass for drinking water. Second, there were no disposable slippers provided, which is something we would expect from an expensive accommodation that claims to be 5-star quality. Additionally, the floor itself was dirty and uncomfortable to walk on. Third, and most importantly, at approximately 11:15 AM, a “maintenance” person entered the house while we were inside. We were not informed in advance, nor were we aware that anyone would be entering. It was extremely shocking to suddenly find a stranger inside the property. This is EXTREMELY UNACCEPTABLE.

A beautiful property, stylishly converted and decorated, in an ideal location within 5 minutes walk of the Minster. Extremely responsive owner who resolved a very minor glitch with a shower almost immediately.

A choice of softer pillows would be appreciated to support a good night’s sleep.

We had a fabulous stay at the Workshop. The location is excellent, close to both the train station and the city centre. The rooms were beautifully furnished and the kitchen was well equipped. Check in and out was easy and efficient at the hotel just around the corner and all communication beforehand was prompt and helpful. A great place to stay for a weekend in York.

The location was minutes from the centre of york, in a quite area. The workshop was a wonderful place to spend time
