Portola Grand Arabia Hotel

We were there when the hotel was having a minor reservation. But it didn't bother us as we were out the whole day. Breakfast is simple, starts at 7.00 am. Located just a few metres walk from Tsunami museum. For those who love to stay fit by jogging/running, the hotel doesn't have gymnasium but right opposite the hotel is Blang Padang where you may go for a run.

This hotel is by far, the best in Banda Aceh. I moved here from another hotel which was completely horrible. The hotel is located in the city centre, 15 minutes walking from Masjid Baiturrahman. Bear in mind that there is no public transportation in Aceh (taxi, bus, or anything). The option for transportation is either bentor (becak motor) or you can rent a car for IDR 600.000 per day or IDR 150.000 per hour from the hotel. There is a lift and the bell boy is available upon request. Room is spacious, AC works properly, adequate speed for the wifi but acceptable (consider the location), hot and cold shower. I stayed one night in a superior room and I had to move to a suite because all the superior room was booked for a government official meeting. The price for the suite room is not as expensive as it is in Jakarta. The hotel has a massage service, but I wouldn't recommend it. It feels like as if the therapist did not put any pressure when doing the massage, hence it feels like she was jut touching your skin.

The room is nice, quite spacious and good bedding although still full with mosquitoes. It is located at the city center, close to Aceh Tsunami Museum, in front of Blang Padang field where you can find a lot of food-stall in the evening, and not far from Rujak Aceh and a nice coffee shop. The hotel is still under construction, therefore, you may be disturb with the noise and the dust from construction activities. Other than that, it's quite nice hotel.

the hotel is under construction. services are very poor. hotel staff didn't response the complaints. the room was full by mosquiteos. bed cover and pillow was dirty and didn't change for 3 days. breakfast was very simple. its really disappointed. although the hotel location is perfect, the hotel overall services are very bad.

I stayed 4 days in this hotel on Dec 2014 which located walking distance to Aceh Tsunami Museum (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aceh_Tsunami_Museum). The room is good and clean and also received good services from the hotel staffs. Breakfast its very simple, but I mostly enjoy to find/explore alternative Aceh food and coffee :)

Nothing too fancy or over the top in this hotel, but I like it when Indonesian businesspeople and families choose this hotel to stay when in Banda Aceh. It means that the rooms are clean enough, the facilities (shower) good enough, a/c is fully alright. Foodwise I think you are better off exploring options in town. Dont expect too much of the breakfast, but it is, again, good enough. And the price through Agoda was fantastic.

I stay here for a night before depart to Pulau Weh/Sabang. The hotel located walking distance to Museum Tsunami and hawker stalls. However, it is a bit far from the main street. The room isn't clean enough. I can find stain in the cups and jug kettle isn't clean. The sound insulation is bad. I can hear nouse from n3xt door and also when people walk on the corridor. Couldn't sleep well.

Fairly ordinary rooms and breakfast (included in price, but needed to include some fruit), but location was excellent. Just across the road is the main tsunami memorial park which was a hive of activity day and night. Can see the Tsunami Museum in the distance and it is an easy walk to it or to the mosque or restaurants. Staff spoke limited English so I was glad we were travelling with fluent Bahasa speakers. Beds were very comfortable and the air con was a relief.
