Vermelho is beautifully designed and the finishes are exceptional. We particularly enjoyed the sense of calm that prevails when you are inside the property, it is very peaceful and serene and for those looking for a relaxing time this is the place. The rooms are beautifully appointed, spacious, the bathrooms luxurious and each room is unique. We slept with the windows open and at night it is incredibly peaceful and quiet. Breakfast is served outside in the garden making for a wonderful start to the day. We enjoyed all our meals at the property, the food quality was good and the service friendly and efficient. The staff is friendly, helpful and engaging.

The hotel is situated in a tiny village that offers little to do for the travellers and you have to travel some distance if you want to have a meal out. Most guests will arrive in their own vehicle, as we did, and it was useful having a car to get around during our stay. The bar and wine service I thought could be improved, particularly the wines by the glass could be better curated.

From our warm welcome to our warm good bye.. everything was truly Portuguese perfection! All of it, everything and everyone, made it very relaxing, very zen and very much a true luxurious experience.
