"Amazing place"

10.0

Amazing room and so fun location. When you open the windows, you feel like you are in New Orleans! The indications were very clear and the decorations are sooo nice. It must be very loud tough on summer time, when tourists are fully there. We went in the middle of the week in winter time and it was very calm. I recommand!

"Very nice and good value"

10.0

We stayed only one night and wish we stayed longer. Good size room and bathroom with a comfortable bed for a good night’s sleep. It was hot while we were in Coimbra and our air conditioning unit was much appreciated. Location is in the heart of Coimbra yet the room is well insulated from sound. Because it is in a pedestrian zone, there is no parking. There is a parking lot on the other side of the bridge about 400 meters away. Pharmacia Guesthouse is a good value in Coimbra.

"Great guesthouse"

10.0

Very nice guesthouse with beautiful room from a design perspective. Excellent location to visit Coimbra. Quiet as well due to the additional measures taken. A few comments: WiFi is included but not strong. TV signal is lousy. Coffee and tea are available but no breakfast which isn’t a problem as there are plenty of places to enjoy a breakfast very close by.

"Recommeded, extraordinary place"

10.0

Extraordinary place: Entrance used to be a pharmacy... Good value for money. Room and bathroom size ok and both clean. Staff friendly, speaks english. Small common kitchen on the bottom floor with free coffee, pastry (muffins), fruits. Location: in the very center of the pedestrian area, lots of restaurants, shops cafes nearby, Very close to train station. I have extended my stay; would choose the place again.

"Centre of Town"

10.0

What a magical place to stay the photos are spot on it has wonderful character plus and is in the heart of the town. The lovely lady (sister in law of owner) who is on reception is a delight, full of information and very kind spiritual woman. This really is the perfect place to stay a great coffee machine, cakes and fruit is gratis on the ground floor.

"Relaxing stay while in Coimbra"

10.0

Centrally located and close to all amenities in Coimbra! Very comfy bed and a superb rooftop terrace, ideal for breakfast (many bakeries around!) and after dinners! The hotel also provides free coffee/tea and small confectioneries as well as a communal fridge (make sure you label your stuff and pray not to get it stolen XD ). I would have personally appreciated a bit more presence of reception/concierge at your beautiful desk; however, the staff can be reached on the phone and always happy to help! Highly recommended!

"Unreliable reservation practices"

2.0

We had booked a room at the Pharmacia Guest House many months before our trip to Coimbra because it was graduation week. Two weeks before our reservation, PGH sent us an email stating that, due to plumbing problems, our reservation was cancelled. We were very disappointed and thought, "Wow, that must be a big problem, that it can't be fixed in two weeks." It was almost impossible to find accommodations by then, but finally we did. So when we were walking around town two weeks later, we stuck our noses into PGH, hoping to see the interesting displays in the common areas. There were two women at the desk; we mentioned that we had had a reservations but that due to the plumbing problems, it had been cancelled. They had no idea what we were talking about...there were no plumbing problems. I won't hypothesize about the backstory here, but there is one and it's not pretty. Needless to say, our opinion of PGH plummeted, resulting in the 1-star rating.

"Fine place to stay!"

10.0

We had an excellent stay, and experience, with this hotel. They were accommodating to a change in our schedule. There is an elevator and, although no parking since it is on a pedestrian street, there is a lot close by that was across the river and 3-4 Euros/day. Although there is no breakfast (understandable), there are many restaurant options steps away. Our only complaint was that there were incidents of partying noise into wee hours of the night, so you may want to request a room in the back, although we enjoyed our little balcony:).

"Gorgeous room in an historical building"

10.0

What a beautiful reception area for this guest house, which was a historic pharmacy! Our room was on the fourth floor, and a welcome bonus in this building was an elevator. Big windows open over the lively pedestrian street below, with music floating up most of the time. The street is lined with quite a few cafes and lots of fascinating little shops. It’s also fascinating to see the students and professors of the university striding down the narrow cobbled streets with their black capes fluttering behind. The room was high-ceilinged and elegant, scented with lavender, and the bed very comfortable and nicely made up. Nice bathroom with lots of hot water. No fridge in the room, but behind the reception area downstairs is a small kitchen with a fridge, a coffee maker, bowls of apples and muffins, and useful cutlery. The guest house also has a rooftop patio with a great view, but it was much too hot to sit out there while we were in Coimbra. I would certainly recommend this guest house.

"Fantastic room in a perfect location"

10.0

The location is uniquely good - right in the main pedestrian zone of the old town. The rooms are very large and modern - beautiful. Everything is clean and well kept. The beds are very comfortable. The entrance through the old pharmacy is a unique experience! Everything is uncomplicated and well organised. A few tips: It is not a hotel, but rooms - that's why there is no 24h reception, but only at certain times. You can NEVER check in before 3pm, as there is usually no one there. But you get a code by e-mail for the entrance door. There is a special area where you can check in your luggage ahead of time - the place is under video surveillance and you need the entry code to gain access. There is also no possibility to park the car at the accommodation - but there is a very big car park 500m away that costs only about 2 euros per day (directly across the river, close to the stadium). The rooms are well insulated, but you can easily hear any noise from the pedestrian zone. If this was a problem, you could ask for a room facing the backyard. It also has a very nice roof terrace where you can have your own aperitif. There is no breakfast as it would not be worth it with the few rooms. But 2min away there are several options which are already open from 07:00 (bakery incl. cafe). And in terms of price-performance ratio, this accommodation is really hard to beat. We would choose it again anytime!
