Gladstone Motel

No on-site office. Check-in via posted phone number. Quick, professional, and personable check-in. Room was clean and cozy. Bed comfortable. Staff was very responsive to text messages. Will stay here again on next visit to Gladstone.

it is a well equipped room. Bathroom needs some updating, toilet paper was hidden behind towels!

Small older motel but in excellent condition. No staff onsite, everything is handled online or by phone. The phone number is posted on a door near the corner. Everything worked properly and the room was reasonably clean. The only downside is the room was kind of small, the bathroom was tiny and the shower stall felt like a coffin, but for the room rate, it’s a pretty good value.

This is a contact free motel. I never received the email to check in, so I called the phone number listed. I was able to obtain the door code. The roooms are old and dated. The bathroom was very small and creepy. The water constantly ran. The shower was gross and creeepy as well. There’s no privacy-the shades don’t close all the way and the sticker on the windows doesn’t give full privacy.

Thank God the towels and sheets were seemingly clean that's the only nice thing I'll say... This was hands down the worst place I've stayed traveling. This room wasn't worth the money a night. The carpet wasn't even vacuumed and was discussing. The bathroom floor was even worse. The shower walls were completely water damaged and moldy. Wallpaper coming off the walls and what looked like a fourth grade wood project for shelves. The coffee maker was covered in mold! The second day I was there trying to sleep, (working nights) I was woken up to power tools at the front door. When I saw up in bed I noticed voices and the doorknob wiggling. When I opened the door two men were attempting to take the door off! When I asked what was going on they said that the room was supposed to be serviced and they didn't know anyone was in there. When the motel girl showed up and apologized and said again they didn't know anyone was in the room. I had then slammed the door trying to understand what had happened and wondered what records they keep of the guests and what rooms are occupied. The rooms are extremely dated and poor lighting attributed to a miserable stay. If anyone reading this can take a suggestion quite literally any other place will be better to stay than this hole.

I liked the location. Gladstone is a nice little town and Lake Michigan is about 3 blocks, or a 5-6 minute walk from the motel itself.

I think its the booking website but there were several times I would book for 4-5 nights and on checkout it would bill me for 3-4 nights. Im not sure if its an issue with the property or booking.com itself but it was frustrating choosing my dates to stay and having them be off by one night/morning - more than once. The app or website would show 5 days available for stay but upon checkout would only bill you for 4 days. Very inconvenient, especially when traveling for work. There was one day I was actually at work and the motel called me asking why my stuff was still in the room. Maybe its a software issue but I travel for work and stay in hotels the majority of my time and Ive never had this issue anywhere else like this. Be careful when you book! It just might take one night away from you! (they dont take/steal money just quietly remove one apparently available day on reserving the room).
