Really great location in touristy Nags Head, steps to the beach, sand-in-the-parking-lot kinda place, nice pool, clean. Really should spend some money updating a bit, however. Shower/bath enclosure coming apart, peeling floor tiles, old carpet, etc. How about a new LVP floor or something? But--, very importantly- it was clean.
Great place to stay. Gives you all the necessities in a small package. Great beach access plus quiet.

We stayed for a short, 4 night visit to the OBX and reserved one of the small cottages (two beds with an efficiency). The motel itself is a charming, old-school property that offers several ammenities and is located on the beach. Overall, the property is well-maintained and the staff were extemely courteous and friendly. The room itself is older (think paneling) but clean. The bathroom in our particular unit was quite small and a little difficult to navigate. I would recommend including some hooks for towels and small shelves to store toiletries and other items. If we had an opportunity to hang up towels we probably would have used them more economically during our stay. The kitchen included a full-sized fridge, stove, coffee maker, and microwave. We did not use the stove, but the fridge and coffemaker worked well. The plug for the coffee maker was not long enough to plug into the outlet, but we moved it out of the kitchen and it worked fine. We were informed that the SandSpur is in the process of being purchased by another local property, and there are plans to conduct some renovations, which will only enhance it. Overall, it was a good stay.
My family thought it was a cute group of rooms and cottages with perfect access to the beach. Our room was comfortable and we liked having the various kitchen supplies and fridge. It could be a bit more updated but it was clean and neat when we arrived.
Probably the cleanest hotel room I've ever stayed in. I stayed in the 'comfort suite' that is no pets. No question it's outdated but I would say outside of maybe the bathroom everything is in very good shape despite that. The bathroom was super clean but the panels on the shower needed work. Cracked/not caulked etc. Dark spots on the wood floor from water. But we expected this already from other reviews and it was not anything that bothered us at all. We really appreciated the laundry line on the front porch to hang towels, the extremely short walk to the beach, that you can see both the ocean and sound from the porch. The atmosphere was definately more laid back than your standard hotel. I've stayed 4 places in the obx, and this was by far our favorite and we declared this was our spot going forward:). The full kitchen was a god send when you consider it's like 90 min wait at most restaurants and many refuse to do do carry out when busy (which is most evenings). No issues with parking. Location is pretty ideal. You are about an hr or so from corolla or hattaras if you want to explore in either direction or corolla as a back up for red flag days since that usually does not seem to be as affected.
