Scenic River Inn Wartburg Hwy 27

Chose this place to get some rest from traveling. Outside decor was verynice.Lady at desk was nice and room cost was not expensive. Upon entering our room we find an older room, had an unusual smell. Microwave, refrigerator, an older tv, no coffee pot no complimentary shampoo. Just one small bar of soap. 2 full size beds, window heat and air unit. A sofa bed, table & chair. The bathroom is an older style. I think this was once an old house. It has a lot to be desired but it served its purpose. We would not choose this place on purpose.

The lady at the desk was nice. But the room was not very clean and the bed bugs cover had a big hole in it. It could be a nice place if it was cleaned up. And, the scenic river view was nowhere in sight. Do your self a favor and stay in Oakridge.

I was on a long motorcycle ride and weather delayed me. As it got late I decided it was too dark and I was too tired to go any further. I saw the inn as I passed by and prayed it would be decent. And decent is a good word. I could tell it had been recently remodeled. The bathroom was clean and quite nice. The bedroom was okay. There were some splatter stains on the recently painted walls. And the bed mattress was very hard. That said, it was overall clean and comfortable enough. It certainly did the job for an unplanned and much needed stop. I wouldn't plan to stay there, but if I ever get caught out that way again and desperately need a place to stop I would definitely stop there again.

This is the only place to stay near frozenhead park.Room#15 has wood floors and is nicer than room next to office that smells old.Bathroom has large counter,made of pink tile.Tub has handles so you don't slip because the bottom is slanted.I never saw that before.Nothing to do here,but the thrift store (the unicorn )has nice selection of clothing,name brands too!Food at local stores are expensive to me ...Save a Lot and Darnell market.Support Darnell local store if you're buying food. Be friendly and people maybe the same.Local park,on road past funeral home with marquee in front has a nice walking path and playground.Angies restaurant is open at 6-3.across from town square?

Although this motel is being updated, I will say that it's doable. It's the closest to the job site and 22 miles away from a bigger county. Not much going on here. A handful of eateries with Subway and Hardee's being the best as they are open 7 days a week. The pizza partners need some help. Angie is only open Monday through Friday. Venture if you must. The people seem friendly enough.

I stayed at the Scenic River Inn for over three weeks while doing contractor work in the area. Pros: Managers very nice, rooms clean, weekly rates are good, motel is close to stores and restaurants. Cons:Managers do not speak or understand english well, shower stalls in single rooms are too small, walls have no insulation so plan on hearing the neighbors talking and watching tv all night, there is no "scenic" or "river" anywhere near motel. It is located between two main roads and next to a Rite-Aid. I didnt mind staying there by myself while working, but would not take my family there.

I have to be honest. Many people would not find this an Average place, but it's the kind of lodging I remember from the 50s and 60s. It's a typical, small roadside motel of that era, Pull off the road and right up to your room. I remember when this was the norm, and I'm not a huge fan of places with shiny lobbies and elevators. They seem to lack personality. The owners at the Scenic River were pleasant and efficient at check-in, despite a few language disconnects. The room was clean and simple - exactly what I wanted on this road trip. The locks worked, everything was clean and functional. So why might others give the place a lower rating? Old motels have relatively thin walls and, while the motel is limited in its control of inconsiderate guests, they can get too loud for some people's taste. In this case, it sounded like someone next door threw something against the wall - twice. At least it wasn't their three year old, whose voice I heard at 1 AM! It didn't take very loud conversation for it to carry through the walls, but these yahoos didn't even TRY to keep their voices low in the middle of the night. Despite that, I got a fairly good night's rest. BTW, there is no comparing the Scenic River to other lodgings in town since it is the only one in Wartburg. If you need more modern accommodations, with the possibility of thicker walls, try Harriman, 16 miles south. However, Frozen Head State Park and the Obed Wild & Scenic River are in Wartburg, and the Big South Fork NRRA is 34 miles north, so Wartburg is pretty handy to the tourist attraction of the area.
