"Very nicely decorated luxury room with everything you need - though a couple of issues with access and occasional noise"

8.0

This was a great location for breaking up the very long journey to Cornwall from London, tucked away just off the route in a secluded village spot. We loved the luxury interior fit-out. It was unexpectedly polished and felt like it had been very recently decorated. The bathroom was amazing with great water pressure. It was honestly spa hotel quality! We were very impressed. Beds were very comfy though on the very soft side. We enjoyed sinking into them after a very long drive. The rooms were also well equipped with everything you could need. Shampoo, conditioner, body lotion etc was supplied.

We did have some problems with access, arriving late at night and finding no key for our room in the keybox as expected, which caused some concern as we couldn’t initially find anyone given the late time in the evening or get an answer on the phone. However we did get then through on the phone to the very friendly contact Martin who hurried around to make sure we could get in. We really appreciated how kind he was and that it had been a busy day, but felt like this was an important point to improve on. The only other thing to mention is although we were moved to the quietest location possible on request, there is some occasional noise in these rooms, due to them facing onto the pub car park. There was a very large truck (maybe delivery to the pub or bin collection) outside at 4:30am which woke me up and further cars with music on in the early hours, but my husband slept right through so I think it will just come down to how light a sleeper you are! Ear plugs advised for the very sound sensitive like me :) We still appreciated the team being helpful in trying to minimise this noise issue for us.

Friendly staff, clean room amazing food/drink

Temperature at night due to velux not really letting much air in and fan noisy but expected it to be hot given the time of year

"Fabulous decor, wonderful bed superb sheets, excellent location."

9.0

Served too early for business travellers, 0800 am so I could not have it. On previous more leisurely visits it has been excellent and great value

Needed instruction as to how to use the coffee machine. Choice of room, mine was very 'masculine'. Dinner prices are quite high so I only had one meal where I would have had two. Some staff not friendly, made me feel I was a trouble asking for a meal at 2000, others a little in need of training, others lovely. For the price I would have expected better

"We had a wonderful week over Christmas 2025 at Cramwell Cottage."

9.0

This is a beautifully designed cottage in a quiet village with a great pub within a short walk. We arrived a couple of days before Christmas to find the downstairs dressed in fairy lights and (very tasteful) Christmas decorations. The cottage is very well provisioned - we cooked for ourselves most nights and found everything we needed. The stocked cupboard and fridge on arrival (with the essentials such as milk, bread and eggs plus a few treats like mince pies) was a lovely surprise. The downstairs shower is exceptional and we enjoyed the hot tub. We didn't need much support while we were there, but when we messaged Martin about emptying the bins, he sorted it within the hour despite it being an exceptionally busy time for him at the pub. All round, we had a wonderful week. It's not cheap (especially being Christmas week) but it felt really special and worth the money.

There is very little that could be done differently to improve Cramwell Cottage. If I were to be very picky, I would say a bigger TV with access to live terrestrial stations would have been appreciated. Do be aware that the stairs are steep, with a tricky couple of steps at the bottom. I actually slipped on them in the dark one night. I would say this property wouldn't suit someone with mobility issues.
