Lacking the use of full capacity of the hotel, lots areas were not open, or not functional. Staff are nice but overworked because there weren’t enough to cover the basic operation, I think. Top floor bar, with great view, not open when we were there.

Beautiful hotel in the most prime location in hualien. Upon entering I was blown away by the design of the lobby, mostly wooden elements that conveyed a sense a warmth. The front desk was quite busy so check in took a little longer than expected, but the staff were professional and friendly. Room was spacious and quite large for a standard room, the bed and pillows were some of the most comfortable I've slept on. Breakfast the next day was a semi buffet with some hualien specialties, not a huge variety but everything was good. Overall this hotel exceeded my expectations, I was surprised to see such a high end hotel here in Hualien. Due to earthquake onsen is under repair, and restaurants aren't fully open, looking forward to the official opening, I will surely be back again!

The hotel is a quick ride away from the Hualien train station, and it is right in the middle of downtown area. It’s quite impressive to have such a premium hotel in a relatively small city. The staff members are welcoming and helpful during check-in. The room is spatious and has a good view to the ocean. The room’s got a large tub and a a spatious shower room. The view at the sky bar is even more spectacular. You can see both the ocean and the mountain views. I recommend visiting during the day and at night to check out the different views. The hotel has an ourdoor pool, but I would certainly take care of sun protection especially in the afternoon. The breakfast is buffet style and it was delicious. Lot of choices ranging from western style to local Taiwainese style, and there is always the chef’s menu if the choice is hard to make. There is a art and culture center just a little walk away from the hotel - it’s really interesting to visit. The closest beach is at the Taipingyang park, which is just 5 min ride from the hotel. But I would recommend the Qixingtan park even more (15 min drive) because of its longer shoreline and available bike rentals.
