Breakfast was disappointing compared to the price of hotel would of expected more instead of a fruit box

The location was fine for us. Everything was of a high standard. Perhaps the drawback was the fact that the restaurant for breakfast was in another building next door which meant going outside in the street for a very short walk. A large number of umbrellas were available, however! The breakfast itself was excellent and the rooms were well decorated, also to a high standard.

For booking information, I think it would be a good idea to point out that there is no lift and that breakfast is not served in the same building but right next door.

It's a great location 10 or so mins walk from the centre and a little more to westquay, inside is loverly well looked after comfortable and very clean. Breakfast was excellent too. Lady on the desk was also very nice and helpful both times we have stayed there.

The look of the property is very nice and the rooms seem well equipped with complimentary drinks and nibbles which was very nice. The staff were professional, but have little to offer in terms of support, they are simply there to welcome you and take you to your room.

The room we were in was cold and despite best efforts to get the heating to warm the room and requests to the reception staff to help improve the heating, it remained very chilly. The continental breakfast served to our room was refrigerated so croissants and jams were freezing cold as was the accompanying fruit... not possible to eat at the time of delivery. Parking is a challenge at this location, think twice if you have a car with you. We had booked for two nights, but left after the first night which the management were accommodating to provide a refund for the second night. However their response to our concerns (above) were less than impressive, we will will not be visiting again.

Very well equipped room, all the little details had been considered, bath salts, free minibar, slippers, robes, amenities etc all make the hotel feel comfortable and luxurious. The bathroom is stunning. It was quiet and spacious and the check in staff were very welcoming. Thanks for the chocolates too.

Housekeeping needs a few small improvements - the plate/cutlery area is dusty, the bed was refreshed in the morning, but it looked a bit lacklustre and creased. A small detail, but it matters: the hose on the shower head for the bath was positioned facing the user - I was trying to figure out the bath taps (should be explained to guests as it's unusual) and accidentally turned the hose on and got soaked - housekeeping should ensure it is facing the wall to prevent this.

The breakfast room is a great new addition to the hotel. The morning breakfast was delicious. The staff are very helpful. Looking forward to staying on my next visit to Southampton

What a fabulous hotel. From the moment you arrive, everything about it feels first class without ever tipping into flash or pretentious. The building has real character, the rooms are beautifully kept, and every detail feels considered rather than forced. What really sets it apart, though, is the hospitality. This is proper, old-school service. Staff who are attentive without hovering, professional without being stiff, and genuinely proud of what they do. You’re treated like a guest, not a booking reference. If you value warmth, consistency, and service that comes from experience rather than a script, you simply won’t find better. This is how hotels used to be run, and why this one stands out so clearly from the pack.
