The old post office hotel

Bargain hotel in a good little pub, right in the centre of Halifax. Accommodation was basic but perfect for my one night stay. Ideal for a gig at The Piece Hall. I would definitely stay here again.

Very warm welcome from staff

Affordable basic accommodation in the centre of Halifax. The room was clean the beds were comfortable and we slept well. The staff were really friendly, funny and accommodating. If we are going to another gig at the peice hall we'll be booking here again.

Very basic but in a good location for Piece Hall. Room dusty and not clean in parts. Curtains very thin so bring an eye mask!

Ich würde dieses Hotel jemandem abraten, dort niederzukommen, weil die Einzelzimmer zu klein sind, 2 x 2 qm. Nur Platz für ein Bett und Waschbecken. Die Toilette befand sind im Flur. Die ganze Anwesenheit benötigt eine Renovierung. Die Treppe war schrecklich eng. Das Pub unter war sehr laut übers Wochenende, weil das Haus nicht dafür konzipiert ist. Die Sauberkeit lässt einem den Wunsch übrig. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und entgegenkommend. Aber was bringt es mir all das, wenn die Zimmer im schlechten Zustand sind? Mit Aufzahlung bekam ein Doppelzimmer mit eignem Bad. Doppelzimmer konnte ich durchgehen lassen. Sonst das Hotel auf der Hauptstraße, wo stets Verkehrsaufkommen bestünde! Halifax Stadt an sich ist wunderschön. Es lohnt sich, sie mal aufzusuchen.

Clean and tidy but the rooms are a bit tired.

I booked this room for my brother. He stayed there for 2 nights. After speaking with him today, he informed me that the room did not have a private bathroom and just a sink. The bed was uncomfortable but more importantly the room had a sewer smell. He brought it to the manager's attention and was told to plug the sink drain. It appeared that they were aware of the smell as they had a quick response and suggested a solution, but did nothing at their end. Plugging the sink drain did not get rid of the smell. It was difficult for him to sleep and he got sick to his stomach due to the foul odor. I would like to request a reimbursement.
